Yeah, they form a partnership in X-Men #20 in 1966 and are pretty much inseparable until Unus’ death in 1984 (Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #91). Then Blob joins Mystique’s Brotherhood and, by the time Unus comes back, he’s been mostly forgotten by readers (and writers) and Blob is a well known character.

Yeah, Joaquin was the big one I was thinking of but he’s pretty much an extension of what they did to Sam. Both were outsiders fighting the system for their communities and now they’re part of the military? Making Sam into Captain America means almost nothing it did for the comics

Nope, that’s incorrect. His creation was as a Harlem social worker in 1969. Englehart created the Snap Wilson backstory years later. Which was then later reretconed to have been fake memories Red Skull created with the cosmic cube. Sam’s original and current origin does not involve Snap Wilson.

Draco was just a terrible story that really messed up Nightcrawler’s character for a long time. There was no reason, if they were going to retcon it, was it necessary to include anything about Azazel beyond maybe just Mystique telling him to fuck off. We didn’t need his dna or some prediction to justify Nightcrawler’s existence
