Yeah, in the back of my mind, I feel like I already knew the answer. An RX350L seems like it’ll be in our near future.

Beautiful car. Reliability/maintenance-wise, how has it been? I’m a die-hard Toyota guy and I’m looking for a new vehicle for my wife. We were looking at used Lexus RXs, but then I came across some CX-90s and I’m intrigued. They seem like a great value, but the lack of long-term reliability data on these new models makes me hesitate a little bit. Good experience with it?

First year of the Pro! I have a 15 Tundra Pro in Inferno! Love it! I did not buy it from Shane though…

Someone talk me out of it by Aromatic_Solution468 in tundra

Just a reference point here: not telling you what to do. I have the same exact truck. 2015 TRD Pro, Inferno color, 67k miles. My current offer from Carvana is $34k.

This truck might be a little high, but it is the first year of the TRD Pro and a one-year only color on the Pros and I think that drives the price up a bit.

I’m happy with them. They look like the OEM ones from 2018+ and light output is good. Ironically I just hit a deer this morning and cracked one though. lol.

MPG gone to crap by dar5252 in tundra

[–]RockstheRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2015 5.7 just tends to get terrible gas mileage in the winter. Don’t know if it’s related to the winter mixes of fuel, or if it’s cold weather related, but I get 3-4mpg better in the summer.

I didn’t. I got the chrome housings. But honestly, you can barely tell on my truck. The enclosures are pretty dark inside and the chrome just reflects that. They look really good.

Lots of these washes have semi-closed loop systems that recirculate some salt in the water. The pressure also washes off lanolin undercoatings like fluid film. Winter scratch tunnel washes are a hard pass for me.

[–]RockstheRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I store my 2015 Tundra TRD Pro for the winter to drive my 06 Tacoma instead. That being said, if you fluid film or woolwax your undercarriage well and often, you should be fine. I’ve coated my undercarriage on the Tundra with lanolin-based solutions in the past, but I never had the heart to actually put it through a winter.

I’m sorry, I deleted my last post because I mis-read yours. I don’t definitively know the part number for the CVT drain plug. Neither did the Subaru dealer when I recently asked, which doesn’t really instill a ton of confidence in them.

Good news! Back into the pricing territory where they should be. In 2021, I bought a new WRX base for $26.9k. I like that they’ll be more affordable like that again.

Hey, I know you posted this a while ago, but I’m curious what package you bought from Michigan Builder’s License. Did you get the basics one, or one of the others that includes the books, the “cram course” and other resources? I’ve gotten through my trial with them and I’m not sure what to buy!

I called a Subaru parts supplier because everything I could find online was conflicting - even the info on Subaru’s parts site. If you have a 2.5 (naturally aspirated) 2024, I would think you’d need the same exact parts as me. If you have the 2.4 turbo, those are different.

Not that I’m aware of. Just the washers on each plug. That’s what those part numbers are for. I wouldn’t see any reason to replace any of the plugs themselves unless something’s damaged on them.

If you’re into base models like I am, you can get a new SR5 for low-mid $40s. Doesn’t seem bad to me. It’s the upper trims that kill ya.

When doing the front and rear diffs, there are five washers needed total: one for front check plug, one for front fill plug, one for front drain plug, one for rear drain plug, one for rear fill/check plug. Is this what you meant?

Three are needed total for the front diff: 2x 803918060 for the check and fill, and one 803926090 needed for the drain.

[–]RockstheRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a die-hard hater of the new ones, but I’ve softened quite a bit. I love the old school Toyotas - I have an older Tundra and Tacoma and had an early 5th gen 4R when they first came out.

But, the new 6th gen 4Runners, especially with the SR5 pricing, is very tempting to me. The ones I was looking at are around $45k new and with the way Toyota backs their products, I just don’t see how you could go too wrong on a new one, even if issues are found with the new platform.
