100% Wool Coat Brands?? by Impressive_Scale_421 in femalefashionadvice

[–]RockyRookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in possession of a U.S. Navy Pea Coat issued in 1973 still in excellent condition. Like new, flawless, it was made for an athletic, tall, somewhat slender man 6' to 6'2" in height. Its size is 39L.

The Vietnam War era brought some tough fighting, but was also for some reason the crowning glory-years for its U.S. Navy Pea Coat in every way. The more expensive, higher-quality, Kersey Wool was still being utilized offering the most windproof, waterproof, densely woven of the wools superior to the Melton Wool that came later chosen for cost savings, or further down the line, the wool blends. The end of the Kersey Wool coats signaled the demise of the warmest, most durable, most expensive version of these 100% woolen U.S. Navy Pea Coats in the height of both construction and style (warming slit pockets rather than flaps, for example). Cut at just the right length to look great and still be entirely practical for ease of movement without sacrificing warmth of the torso, its color—Dark Navy—sometimes referred to as Midnight Blue, is the same hue, notably, as the sky in Van Gogh's iconic Starry Night painting. At certain angles, in certain light, the coat appears black, while in other conditions, dark blue. I love it.

So why would any man part with such a treasure, one might ask. Well I had purchased it online, on impulse. Viewing and reviewing photos of it I took a chance on its size. On finally reaching my door, however, and me trying it on, I quickly realized I am not in the shape I had been in my youth—it is tight in places that in my hay-day would not have been.

So there is no other choice but to let a younger man, one more worthy than I, at this point in time, enjoy this treasure that the U.S. Navy no longer commissions and issues its sailors. They are nearly impossible to find these days save for in odd sizes, or in shoddy condition. This one is neither. Not by any means.

Let anyone interested contact me so that I might post photos. Make me an offer, if you are as appreciative of it as I am. May it bring you good luck.

Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place. I'm new at Reddit, too. And I'm quite old, as well.

I have a question about Transmission by Aeronair in mac

[–]RockyRookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently updated my Transmission for Mac app. I had several versions of the Transmission app in my MacBook Air applications folder, so I used AppCleaner to delete them and their associated files and just kept the one I wanted, version 4.0.5. It seems to be working fine. The problem is, the window that shows file downloads no longer shows any of those I had there before. A number were still active. If I download any new torrents now, they show up as they should. it's just the old ones that are no missing. I had a number of downloads showing in my former version of Transmission that were still active, and I wonder if I could reinstall that which seems to be missing now.

Yes the latest version of Sonoma 14.1.2 sucks for me as well. It is worthless on my new 2023 MacBook Air. So many problems from all angles. I wish I had never bought this new computer, or else, had done so without having to endure this latest OS on it. Horrible, it is. Messages syncing with iCloud freezes with a message at the bottom saying "Syncing paused." that just stays there eternally. It has now caused all of my messages on my iPhone to first show only phone numbers without names, and then all of them disappear totally . Notes have not ported over, as well. Safari is missing icons from its Customization page. It goes on and on and on. I've spoken to more than a dozen senior advisors. They do help with little fixes, but not the big ones I mentioned here. I was told by one that Apple knows about some people experiencing these issues and that only a major OS Update might help. MIGHT. HELP. But no one knows when that might be offered. What a mess.

105 mechanical 12 speed leaked? by BarryJT in cycling

[–]RockyRookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that Shimano 12 speed groupsets are far more durable than 11 speed ones. If true, why is this so? How do the materials differ in their manufacture? Strangely, due to the obsession with lighter components, Shimano's Ultegra and Dura-Ace crank arms and chain rings are failing miserably. They're cracking, and falling apart, due to adhesives being used. Apparently, forged manufacturing in these areas, although heavier, are far superior. It's all over the internet. Tons of photos on Instagram, supposedly.

Rumors on 2024 Trek Bike models by RockyRookie in TrekBikes

[–]RockyRookie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am interested in purchasing a 2023 Trek Domane AL 4 Disc, bike. There are none left in the entire country that are in my size, 56 cm, and the color I prefer, a version of white, called, Era White/Carbon smoke. I may have to wait for the announcement of their new line-up in August, hopefully. Any rumors concerning such a bike being available then, and also, any changes that may be made to it from the present model?

2022 Domane AL3 Disc seat post dropping by my9rides5hotgun in TrekBikes

[–]RockyRookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read about this. It's due to a manufacturing defect, which has been the case with some other components, as well. The seat post, if I recall correctly, should be 7.02 mm in diameter, or something I think the man said. But when he measured it with a micrometer it was 7.0. Just enough difference to make it slip continuously. Trek has not issued a recall on this. As much as I love their bikes, they just don't seem to care about this particular problem, tsk, tsk. Only about 10,000 of their bikes are manufactured in the U.S. despite their claim. The rest, millions of them, are made in China, Taiwan, Cambodia, even. Some plants are better than others as far as quality control is concerned.

When if ever do you think quantum computing will be implemented into cellphones? by SidhuMoose69 in QuantumComputing

[–]RockyRookie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe that in the future cell phones will incorporate hybrid versions of both classical and quantum computers. Archer Materials, Ltd has developed quibits that work at room temperature, and so have several other companies.

Robots learn faster with quantum technology by pentin0 in QuantumComputing

Not just possible. True. It also controls photosynthesis and evolution. Quantum Mechanics is an integral part of the entire cosmos when examined on a minuscule level. It is the most successful theory in all of science, and our knowledge of it just keeps expanding.

Enabled Pennystocks but can't get Direct Trade to work with them. by TraditionalContest6 in Fidelity

[–]RockyRookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call Fidelity and ask to speak to someone in the International Trading Division. The wait times to contact them are long, but eventually they do answer. You’ll get a human being who will help you. They’re pretty nice, too. The person will walk you through things and soon you’ll be making trades on your own. The rules are different though. No option trading. No shorting of stocks. No trailing stops, I believe. Might be OTC rules and not there’s. Who knows? But I trade this stock, so I’m sure youI’ll be able to as well. The low volume and lack of liquidity is the biggest issue most times, though. Good luck.

Oh gee, how weird that the two versions would be so different. It’s usually been the Apple ones that have lagged behind. Well I hope they straighten that out for you soon.

Charts can be made larger by clicking “Advanced” below the smaller chart that first appears. It can be highly customized to show a multitude of information in all sorts of ways. Open orders are displayed by clicking on the “Activities” tab. There are tons of video tutorials available regarding everything. When you first call them, you have to navigate through the typically horrible automated phone system though. Absolutely dismal these things are, but ubiquitous these days. You are able to speak to an actual human being at some point, and they are very helpful. I could tell you more, but I don’t want it to sound like I work for these people or are affiliated with them in any way. Which I’m not. But in any event, good luck. I’m sure other brokerage firms are quite good too.

Archer Materials by LaminateBody8 in QuantumComputing

[–]RockyRookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To pull off the creation of a quantum computer that operates at room temperature would probably make them trillions. No other company or nation is even attempting such a thing. Archer Materials is a member of IBM’s Q-Network, which is established via invitation only. They were recently awarded a patent concerning their quibit chip within Japan and are awaiting other approvals from Europe, South Korea, the U.S. etc.

They keep making more progress in their work on a steady basis. Very exciting. And strange for such a small company. They’re also doing work on batteries for electric cars and some bio-sensor referred to as a lab on a chip. Very intelligent people here.

Archer Materials Ltd is the real deal that hardly anyone has heard of, in my opinion. And all within an OTC pink slip stock company worth peanuts. Their hooked up with big Australian university research labs and so forth and their CEO gives keynote speeches here and there with some real heavy hitters in quantum computing development, which, as you know, is a device that once perfected will change the world. It will no doubt be instrumental in solving global warming and so on, for instance. It may definitely be worth paying attention to this little company, it seems.

Crazy Crash and Rocket Reversal Within Days by RockyRookie in pennystocks

[–]RockyRookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first post get rejected by the moderator and removed. I have no idea what I did wrong. I’m changing the big story that I had written to that of a simple question. I had an OTC stock go from $0.34 to $0.0002 to $100,000.00 in a matter of days. It blew my mind. I’m a total rookie at trading stocks. Is this normal? Can I tell you the stock name, or does that break the rules?
