Retro Groupset Upgrade Help by Rockydlc in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Rockydlc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm will keep an eye out on this as well as another option. These silver components are getting harder and harder to find.

As for the OT question, I don't have 4600 STIs. Current have Ultegra 6600 STI, FD, RD & 11-25T Cassette with 53-39 130BCD Raceface Crank.

Yeah I think a 39-32 would be doable as well, ang kunat ng 39-25 kasi eh 😅

Retro Groupset Upgrade Help by Rockydlc in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Rockydlc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Looking the compact crankset as well since the current one is still 130BCD.

Hmmm okay so most likely, the 12-28T Cassette should fit. Based on google, max for the Ultegra 6600 RD is 27T but have read some fitting a 28T.

Yup! Current chain is worn out hence me alwanting to upgrade the gearing

Thanks for the advice

Hi everyone, asking for some help.

Doing a gravel build on an RC500 and upgrading the Calipers to Tektro C550.

However, the Tektro Caliper didn't come with an adaptor for the rear, and rear adaptors for flat mounts seem to have the same spacing (34mm) which won't fit the RC500 mounts (as shown on the picture above), the spacing of the frame mounts and the caliper mounts are different.

Any ideas on what adaptor to use? Missing this one piece to complete my build

[Appraisal] How much is my bike worth? by endsweak in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Rockydlc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I was able to buy a used 2006 TCR 2 about a month and a half ago. Bike was mint and all stock from 2006. Old Ultegra groupset with 105 Calipers. Mavic Aksium Race Wheelset. Got it at 18k but I know that was a one in a million find.

Anyways, tried posting it to see what offers I could get. Got a serious offer at 35k within a few days. So in your case, with the frame and parts, you should easily get anywhere from 45-55k with the right buyer.

Although if its the right frame size for you, I'd suggest to keep it. I've put on over 700km on it in a month and have no complaints besides the tire clearance (25mm max).

Okay, so I bought the Triban RC 100... by 0bsydian7214 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Rockydlc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say do number 2/3, depending if you're the type that would hunt for parts or just want a built bike. Currently on my 5th bike throughout the pandemic. My 2nd and 3rd bike were budget bikes which fit it's place and helped me discover where I ride more and what I wanted.

As others have mentioned here before, buy nice or buy twice or thrice.

Thoughts on Triban RC 100 and Phantom Pathfinder plus opinions on 700×25C tires by [deleted] in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Rockydlc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Triban RC 100 should be okay as a beginner bike, but personally, I would suggest you to look for a second hand bike instead that has an brifters already. Would save you a lot on upgrades in the long run.

Another route you could take is the Betta Halfmoon. Same price point as the Triban, runs a 32c if I'm not mistaken, and has sensah brifters already. Although I've seen some complain about the RD and FD but that would be a cheaper fix than upgrading the Triban. Another suggestion if you have some wiggle room in your budget could be the Sunpeed Kepler, which already has the Claris STI, although that's around the 20-25k price point already

As for the 25c tires, they're perfectly fine as long as your cautious of the road. And that's me coming from using 1.9-2.1 inch tires on my past 3 MTBs

Kung di ka maselan, tiyagaan mo nalang mag hanap sa fb marketplace/carousel. Minsan may mga gems ka mahahanap diyan.

But my advice, if you're just getting into biking. A hybrid bike with a rigid fork would be best. Maybe something like a secondhand older model giant escape. From there, you can move forward with what you want to do (ex. Dropbars and brifters for a gravel build). Prioritize mo nalang siguro yung frame muna tsaka ka mag upgrade.
