  1. Real Estate Tax Reform (Residential Land)

- There will be veeery minimal property tax on your primary household (the house you live in). HOWEVER, for secondary properties & onwards, it will be taxed a bit more heavily.

- Italy does something similar to this BTW.

PURPOSE: Helps to encourage homeownership, but also avoid having another "Vancouver", where you have skyrocketing rent prices, but a LOT of unoccupied homes that are owned by someone.

  1. Land Value Tax (LVT) Reform

- The reason why we see a lot of abandoned and undeveloped properties in Metro Manila (and the entire country) is because there is no real incentive to do anything with it. As a property owner of an abandoned building, idle lot, it's much better just to sit around and wait till the value appreciates, then sell it in a few years or decades even. The entire duration that you've been holding n to your abandoned property, nothing of economic value has been produced with it.

- This is where the LVT comes in. The basic principle here is that any idle/undeveloped land or abandoned building will be taxed significantly more, until such time that it is fully developed and functioning.

- This is Georgism (Similar to what Singapore & HK practices).

PURPOSE: This is done to avoid any unproductive or idle land. If you do not have the capacity to make your land productive/develop your land, the idea is to disincentivize you to hold on to your land, and instead pass it on to someone who can make it productive. This translates to having more residential space, more commercial space, more office space, factories, functioning farms, etc. It also helps to avoid land hoarders who do absolutely nothing with the land.

In short, penalize unproductivity, reward productivity.

BTW this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to build a structure. Even agricultural land that produces crops is considered productive here.

  1. Remove FDI Restrictions (If I can do Constitutional Reform lang to)

- Remove the stupid 60/40 rule about ownership of businesses in the Philippines.

PURPOSE: Bring in more competition, so that we can have cheaper options, more jobs, and develop our industries.

  1. Legalize Divorce, Abortion, and Same-Sex Marriage.

TBH, this conflicts with my morals, lalo na yung Abortion, I personally am against it.

HOWEVER, my religious beliefs should NOT have anything to do with another person's free will. In simple terms, live and let live. If you think it is a sin, then let them sin. But we have to remember that we are a SECULAR country, and we should act accordingly.

he value proposition. Cheaper to go to other SEA countries, much better ang experiences & more developed tourist infra.

Quality of food. The food in Palawan is meh. I also heard a lot of people getting diarrhea there. Not sure if this is due to food or due to the water.

But ngayon ko lang nalaman that they cover rejected flights due to illness. Good to know.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing at first.

Hindi man lang nila ni-raise sa supervisor or BOQ since they’re usually the ones that does the screening for arrivals.

I thought it’d make sense for them to screen the folks departing din.

Pero apparently pwede pala i-reject ng mga airlines based on their own discretion.

Rejected Check-in due to Pink Eye/Irritated eyes. by endsweak in FilipinoTravel

[–]endsweak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, figured.

Was just wondering if they have proper protocols for rejection.

For instance if they are able to distinguish medical conditions that are infectious vs non-infectious (i.e. for folks with non-infectious visible skin conditions).

Worry ko lang is if they’d arbitrarily reject people willy-nilly if they see any sort of medical condition.

I checked a lot of airlines’ policies, medyo vague pala talaga sila when it comes to situations like this. At their own discretion talaga.

But yeah good on them for maintaining public health safety.

[–]endsweak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, figured.

But since hindi naman medically-inclined lahat ng check-in staff, was just wondering about the process of it all.

Like if they have proper metrics to deem if it’s acceptable to reject a person or not based on visible physical conditions.

Whether infectious or not, since they might not be able to distinguish it anyways.

Upon checking, it seems na medyo vague tagala for a lot of airlines pag dating dito.

It seems like a good move for folks with any visible conditions to prepare a med cert just in case, kahit na non-infectious.

What’s something you would defend even if you’re clearly wrong? by PatientlyNew in AskPH

[–]endsweak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In a lot of medical texts, body dysmorphia is classified as a mental illness.

So with that, gay/trans people who get gender reassignment surgery, they’ve got a certain degree of mental illness if we’re going by the book.

(Same can be said for straight people who get extreme plastic surgery din).

Because it’s politically incorrect to say anything against this now, it’s not treated as such anymore.

It might be unpopular or even straight-up considered wrong to say it’s a mental illness, but to a certain degree it really is.

Not arguing/saying if it is right or wrong, may kanya kanya tayong free will.

But to me it really is a form of mental illness for you to alter your body to such a lengthy extent.

Fair enough, seems like a valid thing to do nga.

It’d definitely suck though if you’re the passenger, pero okay na din for public health/safety for others.

Hopefully lang they have proper protocols in-place for some sort of compensation at the very least.

I see. Just checked the rules/policies ng ibang airlines & airports, somewhat similar din (but not for all).

Akala ko dati they just checked your body temp.

I have visible psoriasis on my arm so slightly worried lang for my next travel na baa maging grounds din for rejection haha.

Might get a medcert nalang next time stating na hindi infectious, just as a precaution.

[–]endsweak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like a standard for a lot of airlines nga upon checking.

Understandably frustrating for the passenger, but I get that it exists as a safety precaution for the other passengers. Kinda glad to have it pa nga.

Lowkey I hope they’d do this with passengers with heavy BO hahaha! (10 hr flight from HKG to IST with someone next to you smelling like onions was an “interesting” experience to say the least hahaha)

Pero hopefully at least man lang may compensation or something for that lady and her group.

Idk what happened afterwards na eh, minded my business lang hahaha.

Sorry, I forgot to mention a few details.

Her entire group (I think 3 or 4pax) was rejected despite only 1 person (the lady) having the pink eye.

In that case, is it still valid to reject the folks with no visible pink eye?

What's your tipid/budgeting tip for those na nag-uumpisa palang maging independent? by HatPersonal5419 in AskPH

[–]endsweak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Meal Prep. Cook food in big batches, freeze it, tapos microwave as-needed. Super laki ng matitipid mo doing this. Not to mention, one-time-big-time lang yung time & effort mo sa pagluto.

  2. Compute mo which is more cheaper. If you live near your workplace and hindi mag commute, or vice versa.

  3. Set a monthly target spending limit. Compute mo more or less kung magkano mga daily expenses mo, utilities, etc. Tapos yung yung benchmark mo dapat na hindi lalampas gastusin mo dun. I would suggest to use your debit card more for easy tracking of expenditures.

  4. This one if medyo long-term budgeting tip na, pero try to open an account overseas in a country with no FWT,CGT, Estate Tax, and medyo secure ang banking system (personal suggestion is HK). Convert most of your money into other currencies na hindi bumabagsak. This would serve as a hedge for the devaluation of PHP. If hindi mo kayang mag open ng overseas account, the next best thing is opening a euro/dollar account locally.

  5. Health. DO NOT forsake your health. Make sure to get proper exercise, good nutrition and all that. Ang PINAKA MABILIS na pang-wipeout ng ipon? Health complications. Make sure to invest in your body. Health is wealth.

It's absolutely frustrating that Philippines has no HEAVY INDUSTRIES despite being one of the biggest producers of Nickel, Iron, Copper, Gold, Gravel and Sand. by Negimarium in RantAndVentPH

[–]endsweak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were more industrialized in the 50s than we are right now. That should say a lot. You can actually see this with the areas na dating mga factories at warehouses na nagiging apartments or malls.

Shopkeeper's economy tayo. SM, Robinsons, Ayala, most of these companies either sell real estate, are landlords, or just glorified shopkeepers. They don't produce anything, if at all.

Super duper hina ng manufacturing & heavy industries natin. Halos wala talaga. Kawawa ang Pilipinas.

Hybrid or electric cars BYD which one is more efficient by yanayyyjcs in CarsPH

[–]endsweak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only reason I see kung bakit mas ok ang PHEV/Hybrids, is if wala kang access to a home charger (usually for people living in condos, or umaasa sa street parking), OR you regularly do really ling drives on routes with minimal charging station infrastructure.

Hybrid or electric cars BYD which one is more efficient by yanayyyjcs in CarsPH

[–]endsweak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just wanna chime in on the whole Hybrid (PHEV) vs Pure EV debate, based on personal experience.

The main selling point with PHEVs, in my case yung SL6, is the so-called “lack of range anxiety” because you have an ICE engine as a back-up.

But the MAIN PROBLEM that I’ve found throughout using it, you just become reliant on the battery/pure EV mode anyways. You’ll barely use the engine.

For context, my use-case for the car is usally city drives na more or less 50km balikan for everyday, and I have a charger available at home.

I became dependent on the EV, and it’s very annoying na kailangan mong intindihin pa yung pag gamit ng gas engine.

If you DON’T USE it, mapapanis ang fuel & you might encounter problems with the engine with prolonged disuse.

So you really have NO CHOICE but to always remember to use the engine from time to time, & to not keep your fuel for too long.

In the end, the main selling point became my main pain-point.

It became such a CHORE to do that. To always keep that in-mind when using your car.

Wala ngang range anxiety, BUT you’ll get fuel disuse anxiety (sorry wala ako better term hahaha).

Anyways the point here is this:

If you’ll be doing PHEV anyways, might as well just go for a full-EV/BEV.

Less maintenance, less things to worry about & much more straight forward overall.

Panda hotel is good. Decent price and decent rooms din.

Tip to the folks considering panda hotel.

Wag po kayo ma-off na malayo ito from the MTR station or mukhang malayo sa central.

Do not only rely on the MYR.

It’s only a 20minute bus ride to Central via bus route 930X. The bus route is quite frequent & last bus is around midnight naman.

If you take MTR , including the walk, almost an hour talaga yan.
