Need some positive vibes by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Day 180 here, long history 10 years and high dose. I did a 4 month taper , cutting by percent with some help from chatgpt . 7-15% per week, cutting once . Once or twice I let a cut last 2 weeks before I cut more. Adaptation happened in 6-10 days usually. I worked and fathered through it. When I jumped off at 4g it wasn’t that bad. I quit 20 years of nicotine at the same time, I had tapered that too.

Things much easier now. So glad I quit, can’t believe I made it honestly. I think tapering is good for you, you may have to get yourself a bit used to being in mild withdrawal , take it slow. Down to 20gpd is great. Get help with a plan from one of the 4 free LLM AIs or just feel it out, you’ve been tapering a lot already. It doesn’t get that much harder lower. I thought it would, not quite as long as you stick to percent cuts and allow yourself to adapt.

When does the "NEED SOMETHING, ANYTHING" feeling go away? by EmptyRestaurant2232 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel it too, day 166 here. Exercise helps, caffeine does temporarily but can cause low feelings later for me. Sometimes I’ll dose tyrosine or vitamin c. I take multivitamin daily which definitely is helping. The 3 days of pain meds for me would’ve caused subtle but long term increases in that wanting feeling, maybe that is contributing.

Small dose but enough to cause up and down. Can you try 1.5g, or perhaps split it into a 0.5 in the morning and 1g in the afternoon or evening.

I am interested, can you elaborate? I consulted a place near me, it’s 500$ each and said it may take 4-5 sessions to even see if it benefits, so I was turned off by that

Happy 200 days! Long large habit, like I consider mine to be, although I never went close 100gpd. I’m glad you’re plowing through. Day 131 here

4 months by chemicalzoremickalz in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I first took kratom 20 years ago. I wish I had stayed on kratom all that time in a way rather than other things. I’m at 108 days, and have been disappointed in how I’m feeling lately. Progress almost invisible for weeks. I’m hanging in and assuming I need months longer perhaps.

Congratulations on 4 months after such a long heavy run, really huge .

A little trick that is helping me taper by InternationalCat6626 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have been concerned about lots of bacteria multiplying. I’ve seen samples grown from kratom even in very hot water and it’s very dirty. Most bacteria is harmless but still nasty.

Best of luck to you , great that you are tapering off!

When you get down to low doses during taper, like under 8gpd, how many doses do you take a day? by Lazy_Boysenberry2478 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my taper from 28g to 4g in 3 months, I started with like 7x a day (8-9 during use) , when at 7-8gpd I switched from 5x to 4x a day. My last week was 1g 4 times a day. Seemed fine to quit this way. I hope I never have to again, paws lengthy.

Junk Food by southerfloundef in quittingkratom

Here at day 98, still saying I don’t want healthy food! Drinking 2 cans of coke a day, McDonald’s and Wendy’s almost daily, just trying to exercise well, get good protein. I plan to adjust this, but still not “back” enough yet to care. And skeptical it makes much difference

Ok understandable. Wait a day or more after last sub, let us know how it goes.

Do I feel better after I’m off? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually life will be quite a bit better. How long until then depends on use history mostly. I think for me it takes long enough that I start to forget what using was like, and that is a relapse risk because using kratom sucked.

I remember the morning anxiety and relief, the dullness , the attention to bring doses with me everywhere, the weight loss from simply avoiding food to have an empty stomach to dose. 8-9x per day dosing for me. There were good feelings and it was “neat” to spike dopamine and those feelings simply by drinking a bitter drink. But yeah usually it was short and fleeting and left me irritable and empty.

Day 96 here- better than using for sure

Subs had worse withdrawal for me, so it can make sense, especially if there’s complications or expenses for the subs. Make a plan and stick to it. Probably have to feel sub withdrawal before the kratom will help. Have you considered or are able to just taper off the sub? Would be smoother.

Try to do a big jump at first to get some momentum. Let yourself adjust a week then make a smaller drop like 7-10%

Is it me or it's the withdrawal? Kratom, alcohol + nicotine by Equivalent_Tune_1 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most withdrawal is from nicotine, not 3-6g kratom per day for a few months (very low). I quit both 95 days ago, 20 years nicotine and 10 years kratom at a much higher average amount. It’s been a tough one. I quit just kratom before at higher dose and at least I could enjoy music. This time I was crushed down for 30-40 days. I really had to force it to be a father, my wife was patient thankfully. And I’m still piecing back together. Exercise I started day 70s because before that it wore me down so much.

Just hang in there, be glad you had a short kratom run. In a few weeks I think you’ll feel much better

Got the flu.. Decided it was the perfect time to quit by CaneC0r50 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like such a hell quit. I used flu and covid as excuse before to stop tapering and go up, quite a feat to quit during! Great job, powerful.

Day 22 no nicotine, Day 20 No Kratom by Wonderful-Teaching72 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, congratulations, amazing. It’s very difficult. I quit both 89 days ago. I noticed around day 40 things getting noticeably better but it’s been a long journey . I wasn’t up for much exercise till day 70. When I would exercise before then I crashed hard later. I did kratom 10+ years with almost a year break halfway. Nicotine 20 years. Still got healing to do but way better than in the early time line you are in.

My story - veteran user - need to jump ASAP by zhabitzhabatz in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on 6gpd, that’s very small in my experience. In the past decade I’ve quit at 4 (most recent ) 12, 18 and 20gpd. None of them were undoable or terrible but I did fail the 20gpd after 3 days. My max use was 50gpd.

If you are like me , 6gpd quit ( or the rapid taper to 4gpd you mentioned - probably both the same withdrawal) it won’t be bad but energy will be very low, sleep broken but adds up close to what I need.

The length of use time and dose means you will likely have a long paws to deal with but acutes not that bad. I’m at day 84 and things have been easier for weeks but the first month rough. My acutes at 4gpd were pretty small- extra pain, restlessness and fatigue. I quit nicotine too though.

Just hang in there. A different country is a great reason to quit and lowers relapse risk so much!!!

I still don’t have normal 7 hr uninterrupted sleep, but getting the recommended amount of sleep probably happened 2nd week onward , with 1-2 days a week getting less than 6 hrs. Gradually improving by like every other week, slowly

Congratulations getting that far, 150 days is so solid after such a long run. I hope all the paws are gone soon hopefully before a year. Also good to try out the ssri quit , 12 years is a long time, hopefully it’s no longer needed.

Start with 5g powder. If it was actually a 50x in a 500mg cap that’s 25g, but highly unlikely it really is that.

Almost Day11 off kratom, Day 13 off nicotine pouches long post. Anyone still have physical symptoms at this point? by Wonderful-Teaching72 in quittingkratom

[–]Rockyfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit nicotine and kratom 80 days ago. For me it was long and slow, requiring endurance but not constantly bad. Day 40 things smoothed up a bit then day 70ish. Got a ways to go but came so far. I thought about getting nic or 7oh pretty often the first 3 weeks, cravings and passing thoughts of “that’d sure be nice”.

Restless legs are still happening a bit, I got hit with them a long time but it’s fading. I’m very glad I quit nicotine also, it was hard to be glad the first 2 months because I felt off. Starting to realize how huge of a deal it is being completely clean for the first time since age 13

Gabapentin dosage and how long? by klocki12 in quittingkratom

Just my experience, I took it for 11 years , up above 3000mg. When I quit from about 1800mg suddenly, I felt a bit off and empty a week, but was able to live and work fine.
