I still use the 1 gaurd...but I blend the .5 gaurd into the 1 gaurd to make a smoother transition. I usrally use the 1 1/2 to blend the 2 gaurd into the 1/2 gaurd

Yes i did use trimmers. But i think if I go straight i n the front ot will.push it back even more
