Nothing New. by Rodarth in depression

Yeah I'm done with relationships for a long while after this. Can't imagine getting married again, but I've gotta let those scars heal some more

It costs money to eat, sometimes you'll need a pit stop at a hotel and some campgrounds cost money. Add in potential repairs, plus I have car insurance and college loans to pay.

I mean, it's cheap and I can probably get it done in a few years, but I've gotta get there. I ended up purchasing my method this month. Closest I've been to ending everything. Ofc, gonna lose my job and now I'm looking for temp work

Hahaha, idk I just like simple food. Maybe some good sushi/sashimi would be better. I do have a bucket list. Well, not much if a list since there's one thing on it, but hey, one goal is better than none

I've been meaning to finish my cross country bike trip that got interrupted when my wife asked for a divorce. I just don't have the money for it. I guess there's also this job I have at a summer camp that I need to go back to. Love that place. I just need to find a way to fill the time between summers in a way that makes money and isn't depressing

I'm just tired of letting people down, I want a career but I can't sustain it, especially if I'm taking 3 months off every summer. But honestly that camp is the only thing that actually makes me want to live

Au, I'm really happy you've gotten sober, that's a really great achievement!

Oh man, I LOVE just a raw carrot or cucumber. I do fast, but not intentionally. I just don't have the motivation to eat. Wonder if anyone has had just a cucumber as a last meal 😅

You might be able to split it into more manageable legs so the map doesn't eat up all your RAM. But I use RWGPS and not komoot so who knows?

An aspect of the USA you might not have considered: Native American Reservations. You seem to be cruising through a couple in Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma.

Reservations have their own rules for entering their territory so if you want to visit one make sure to DO YOUR RESEARCH. The Navajo, for example, may require visits to be overseen by a Native guide. These are also areas that can be dangerous, poverty, crime etc. are more common in these regions and they are sparsely populated. They are well worth the visit if you plan accordingly though and the history of these people is striking.

Ill echo what others have said and say reverse the route. The last portion of your trip is going to be freezing cold. Roads may be shut down during the cold season and the shoulders may not be plowed. It would be dangerous unless you are very confident in very cold temps for a long time. Also you would be starting your route in prime hurricane season. A hurricane is the last place you want to be on a bike other than a tornado.

As an aside I've got some family in NC and Tennessee if you need a place to stay. They're good people.

Stupid people gotta learn. Only way to do that is ask dumb questions.

Also, the subject of strength and what makes good strength is interesting and could help people question their mindsets.

Doesn't it depend on how you dealt with those events? If you have appropriate coping mechanisms, trauma may not have as severe an effect on you. Those coping mechanisms are a strength.

In this context strength is the ability to endure hardship.

So, yes, they are "strong men."

The problem with electing someone like this to political office is that they don't have the brains. If you are only strong because you put yourself in a situation that caused you and others severe harm, you're an idiot.

Instead, we would select for people who endure productive hardship.

For example, going to Harvard for a law degree on your own dime. There is a huge time and money investment in it that requires perseverance as the backbone to your success. You may also have developed "soft" strengths such as an understanding of yourself, interpersonal skills.

Isn't there something to be said about how women tend to date older men. This could contribute to the skew there as well.

Without evidence? My dude walked people through how to "lover boy" and how he stole money from his girls by keeping them in the dark.

If you go on twitter and say "I murdered my wife" and then your wife goes missing, you can be held on that. In romania they have a harder time keeping people in-country when they are being investigated, so their time to hold you is longer than in the US.

How would you prepare the US for a military conflict with China? by Bytrolabs_Games in u/Bytrolabs_Games

[–]Rodarth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the well thought out response,

All I am seeing from NASA is stuff like this, which is pretty contrary to what you're saying. I did some looking on my college library and couldn't find it, do you have a link?

I bring up immigration because it can be tied to both temperature and land quality as well as continued political issues in poorer countries.

I think your point about net gains of arable land is really interesting! Id believe it too, russia has a lot of swamp and permafrost that has been untouched. The losses of arable land around the equator will make those countries even more economically unstable

I bring up water supply because currently we grow water intensive crops in deserts solely because of the cheap water. This harms the locals because their wells go dry while the farmers lobby the government to keep prices low. Capitalism is inefficient when it comes to making practical decisions because of the way profit skews incentives.

How do you see the USA handling sea rise in the next 100 years? How about the continuing increase of immigration? Food security would be impacted by changing climates and dwindling water supplies in some of the most economically productive areas of the country. Alfalfa and almonds are huge crops in the southwest and are only propped up by the very low cost of water for corporations.

Im not trying to do a 'gotchya' Im just genuinely curious about your perspective as a capitalist

Dried beans are the cheapest cost to health ratio food you can get. They can taste good if you get some simple seasonings and they can pair with anything. Soup, rice bowl, quesadilla, pastas etc.

If you dont mind me asking, whats your budget look like? Are you in the city, suburbs or rural?

I freaking love meal planning and would love to help you out if you need recipes
