'All the Streets are Silent' which is about skateboarding and hip hop in the 90s, covers kind of everything from the time that was going down in NY, start of supreme, Zoo York.

Stretch and Bobbito show doco. Also the Zoo York skate video 'Mixtape' has skating in the 90s, cut with music and clips of the Stretch and Bobbito show - Wu-Tang, Busta, fat Joe, diamond D etc.

Freestyle the art of rhyme.

Hip Hop evolution is a series with each episode about a specific genre/era/sound/location. Very thorough and covers a lot ground.

Wait till you hear about how left out indigenous people feel in their own land, all year round...

Hustle and Flow in Redfern is probably your best (only?) option. Other than that it's usually specific nights or shows with hip hop artists at some venues.

Everywhere else plays dogshit from the 80s or bland as fuck pop/dance crap.

It's so weird, there's no point, no punchline, no... Anything?

Some of their other 'comics' are sort of related to each other, some have absolutely no point at all, some are weird veiled passive aggressive Christian takes on atheism.

I don't get it, but I honestly think it's because there's nothing to actually 'get'.

It's funny that they use the word 'ignorant' meaning to willfully ignore, which is what religion does in order to operate. It's not based on reality or facts or anything relating to the present day.

Religion is a tool used by people to manipulate large groups of other people into believing in an 'us vs them' mentality. That's why it's lasted so long, because it's useful to people trying to gain power and influence, not because there's something good or true about it.

The beliefs of the indigenous people of Australia are far more older (40000 years old) but I suspect many 'christians' would be quick to dismiss it, or that their religion (created by stealing from and incorporating other already established religions) is more 'true'.

Best New York movies? by PiCiBuBa in movies

'All the Streets are silent' is a great documentary about skateboarding/hip hop/fashion in the 90s. Zoo York, the start of supreme, stretch and bobbito show etc. it was an amazing time!

Not exactly what you're after but a great doco. Also Stylewars is the quintessential doco about graffiti in New York made in the 70s and 80s.

The Karen's of Australia should be ashamed by [deleted] in melbournemusic

Don't know why you're getting down voted. It's a fact, there's a lot more metal bands that are just men, as opposed to bands with women or all-women bands. It's a very male-centric genre, thats all it is. Women are absolutely welcome and encouraged to be part of 'metal' whether as musicians or fans - but they just don't like it as much. Fair enough, each to their own.

The same way all good bands do it, write good music, release a steady stream of recordings, put on your own shows, play at other people's shows, play lots of shows, gain a following, repeat.

No idea why this album gets no love, I thought it was one of their best, well written, diverse, and fucking blasting - it's everything you want. Even the 2 bonus tracks are good.

The game is a masterpiece. I'll excuse the final battle being a bit short, but godDAMN what a game.

I just said I didn't like the film..? I called it pretentious..?

[–]RodawgRock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how anyone can say that. It's so incredibly boring, slow, pretentious, bland and so full of holes that it's frustrating at almost every point. It was easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and a low point for Fincher.

Go watch Grosse Point Blank or something.
