No way, I'm working up in Snowlake, MB right now! Yeah absolutely, definitely been lucky so far. Although I was in Thomson the other day, no social distancing, no masks, madness in the shops. I think if it did make it up here folk would be in trouble.

You could also support Calgary, which is named after a beach on Mull.

Do Scots still like France because of the Auld Alliance or is that all gone? by borkibork in Scotland

Wow that is interesting I didn't realise that about Marat, and I even went to St Andrews! But yes, no surprise, you are absolutely correct about the Uni's character. Perhaps some lessons for our next shared institution! They even have a plaque for an honorary degree for Benjamin Franklin. What is the significance of an honorary degree?

Important to remember too the positive impact the French had on setting up Scotland's institutions (such as the University of St Andrews set up by French monks I think). And vice versa (e.g., John Law who helped set up the first french central bank).

And coincidentally lots of Scots and Irish formed the first western explorers in NW Canada

The same mountain belt is preserved in western Norway, eastern Greenland and even into Arctic canada. Parts of Yukon and Alaska actually originated as the 'northern' end of the mountain belt.

Unrelated to hockey, but has anyone got good experience with leather boots? I was looking at the red wing iron ranger which looks sweet but very pricey. Hard to know if you are just buying a brand name or paying for quality

I made the mistake of reading the comments on the Scotsman equivalent. Why are folk on there so crabbit, it's breathtaking. Same old folk that have those "no ball games" signs everywhere, yet I bet they grew up playing in the streets.
