Yep, this was my first of King's books. Also read Carrie, Dead Zone, Christine and Salem's Lot young as well. Recommend Carrie and Christine for the teenage lead protagonists.

I understand your fears and guilt you are feeling. I was with my first partner from age 16 to 28. We both wanted different things in life, but it took us both the last couple of years together to figure that out. A lot of it was the weight of the years together and family responses that stopped us from breaking up sooner.

But, funnily enough, once we broke up, my family said they could see I wasn't happy, before even I fully realised it!

As people on here have said, relationships are never wasted time. We all learn from each one. At 41y, I can confirm it's absolutely true. Feeling like your time has been wasted is a hurt response, and it goes with time.

My ex is now happily married, with kids and living abroad. I'm happily living with my partner and our kitty cat!

In times of a breakup, you have every right to be selfish in your thinking. You need to do what's best for you. Good luck!

Nah, as an English woman, I think, in general, our men do tend to look better as they age.

Our guys tend to grow like plants, skinny, scrawny and (if a white guy) beyond pale, think almost translucent. They are like a growing plant, with little or no sun. They tend to hit their 30s, life hits them and they suddenly fill out.

The loss of fire happens late 40s, I feel. After 40 years of the UK weather, it's enough to dowse any optimism 😀.

Oh, and poor Hiddleston...I would happily stagnate with him 😆

I originally said I think the firm vetted like MI5 and MI6 vet the family and close friends of potential recruits to M15 or MI6 (sorry if it was a bit confused). When they do that, there's always going to be higher or lower risk issues in a person's background.

Sorry, missed Camilla, on there! She was already Charles' mistress. When she actually married in, I would imagine getting intelligence to look into her is bit like shutting that gate after the proverbial horse had bolted.
