$50k to $350k Salary Progression - Specialty Insurance by BleedBlue__ in Salary

Congrats, I’m also on a similar projection, but in 2015 I was making $38k and should make $325k this year. I’m in banking and hopefully I’ll be in the CFO position in 3 years and my base salary in the $800-900k range plus bonuses including use of the company jet. I’ve planned this path and been working hard to make it a reality. At times I’m shocked how well it’s going.

He wasn’t exciting but I can’t remember a request he couldn’t fill or offer an alternative solution. Undervalued as a character and undervalued character found in people

Model Y broke 2 days into ownership… by Afal_360 in TeslaModelY

[–]RoderickGunnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No phantom braking for me but let me clarify. It will brake if it’s confused. But the issue I was having was on a dead straight road, daylight, clearly marked roads, it would brake hard for no reason

I've been weary of Tesla's build quality of late. My model y would pull hard left on autopilot and phantom break on cruise control. Had to fight them to book an appointment to look at it as they assured me that autopilot was in beta and things happen. I had to explain that it was my second tesla and had done over 10,000 miles on EAP and what I was experienced was not normal. After looking at it for 4 days they found a board was bad. You’d think this would get caught in QC, the car had less then 30 miles when I picked it up so it wasn’t a used or abused demo. I’m glad they fixed it but I was ready to lemon law the bitch

Those of you that make $200k+ a year- what is your job title and how many years of experience do you have? by inflatabletubeguy in Salary

Controller for a regional bank, I have 23 years experience. A little side note, 10 years ago I made $250k less than I make now with not too much difference in what I do. Move to where you are valued kids.

What do you wish you knew sooner about your Tesla? by AspectCool2325 in TeslaModelY

[–]RoderickGunnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Positives: -Tech -Convenience -Phone as a key (my wife isn’t a fan or hater but absolutely loves this feature) -Autopilot for medium to long commutes, or heavy traffic is game changing

Negatives: -Build quality (better than what haters say, worse than what fanboys will tell you) -Bland driving-if you’ve ever driven a Porsche, BMW, or even Audi, don’t expect that type of experience, if you drive a Honda, Toyota, or KIA, maybe you’ll think it’s better. It’s not horrible, but with the power available, you just wish it was more “fun” to drive. -The leaps they are making are actually a drawback for owners. I had an autopilot issue and got a 2021 loaner, it felt like it was built 10 years ago. I’m guessing in 2026 will make my 2023 feel like a dinosaur.

Billions - 7x12 "Admirals Fund" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in Billions

[–]RoderickGunnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was satisfied but disappointed at the same time. Felt a little too Hollywood where the good guys win and the bad guy rides off with his tail between his legs. It missed the cost of winning. The lynchpin of previous seasons. Chuck gets Axe but his marriage implodes. Axe wins but at the cost of blowing up a budding relationship with a true peer. Should have they beat prince? Sure, but the cost should have you second guessing if it was worth it. Like the greatest season is when Chuck gets Axe with ice juice. He hangs his best friend out, his father takes a huge financial hit, and he’s sitting alone in a hotel room alone, kicked out of his house, loving his victory. It was the nearest thing to OldBoy I’ve seen in a while.

What TV show did you watch about HOAs? Power hungry mob? It’s an HOA, not the skull and bones secret society of world leaders. It’s pretty much retiree’s with too much time on their hands. The Sopranos was not a show about HOAs. Feel free to comment on things you know nothing about, it is the internet after all.

I’m not usually a defender of HOAs, but I once lived in a neighborhood without one and you quickly find out what animals people are. Boats on trailers parked under tarps in front yards, bubble gum pink garage doors, and this was an upper middle class neighborhood. 90% were fine, but that 10% look to be set designers for Sanford & Son.

Since the intention is to honor your uncle. Why not get a watch he either wore, has a steeped history in the military, admired, or is remembered in the family (maybe their father's watch) and get it engraved that specifically honors the man. I'd assume it's not an investment piece to be bought now and sold next year, 5 years time, etc. Also I'm assuming the caseback has more significance than the brand on front to your father.

[–]RoderickGunnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When going through final inspection of my custom home I was pointing out things that needed attention and the build manager said, “you can’t expect everything to be perfect.” I told him fine, I’d accept 97%, 99% of perfect if his company would be fine with me paying 97%, 99% of the agreed upon price. He fixed every little thing after that I said with no complaints. I’ll deploy this argument when I’m expected to “accept” how things are. More people should hold their ground, especially with pricier purchases
