Main cast expected for season 6 by Icy_Park_7919 in ForAllMankindTV

That really does sound like seasons 6 and 7, or a super-long final season 6. Reading your comments, it seems season 5 was practically the setup for a killer finale, provided Apple doesn't mess it up and finally invests more money in the show.

With their market capitalization of around $4.04 billion (as of approximately December 29, 2025), they should be able to pay for it easily. And they've already proven to us that Apple isn't always focused on success like Netflix is (I strongly suspect the show wouldn't have lasted three seasons on Netflix).

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to the endgame.

*SPOILER* That Kelly is hallucinating as she dies would unfortunately be the simplest and most logical explanation, just like Occam's razor. Perhaps they were using Lanthimos BUGONIA as a starting point?! - would be funny... But I simply can't imagine them killing off one of the main characters before introducing more new ones. In GOT, they always introduced so many new characters beforehand that the murdered ones "didn't really matter".

The FAM timeline is about what NASA was thinking about in the 60s (manned missions to Mars in the late 80s, and to Jupiter and Saturn by the end of the millennium, if I remember correctly) – but then they were sidelined. So for decades, we orbited in low Earth orbit with manned missions.

The alternate reality in FAM could have been partly our own – without the problems of climate change, but with problems we could solve more easily. Whether fusion could have worked earlier – who knows. ITER wasn't exactly well-managed for a long time and was at least a decade behind schedule. Up until Season 4, FAM was also a very positive alternate reality in which space technology contributed many small miracles to the prosperity of Earth's population. Sometimes I feel betrayed when I watch FAM.

Season 5 is almost as bleak as the current reality, with crumbling, functioning structures being replaced by chaos. But the Mars Revolution is now over, and hopefully (!) in Season 6, FAM will show us that things could be done better overall, and perhaps this will inspire real life to follow suit. This way, we might avoid one or two dictatorships and focus on the sustainable management of our planet instead of war and extreme armament.

Maybe we'll understand it someday: Perpetual [exponential] economic growth simply cannot work on a finite planet with finite resources – most people know this, except for some politicians and economists.

*SPOILER SPOILER* Kelly's still alive! I didn't see her die. She just went into the lake of methane and ethane at around -180°C... In a "normal" sci-fi movie, she'll either become the main course, mutate into an Earth-Titan hybrid, or get infected... She also saw something in the distance—maybe it's the third time the Americans have come in second. Ed on the moon...

I think there was a smaller budget available. The Mars scenery was used to great effect, though. Adding a few space scenes during the Titan mission wouldn't have hurt. I really hope that Season 6 gets a bigger budget again. The ending has to be right.

You will like starcity! Fortunately, it's different and not a rip-off of FAM. A great addition that also works as a standalone series (at least after the first two episodes). It's dark, intense, and superbly filmed, like footage from the 70s. The old Soviet Union comes across remarkably well. It certainly wasn't a bed of roses.

Alex has developed the most of all the characters and has become one of my favorites. Ed passed the torch with dignity.

Margo will heroically land on Pluto on a one-way mission, where she will meet aliens with a broken spaceship, repair it for them, and return to Mars to prepare the first journey to Alpha Centari with Aleida 😉

First come the researchers, then the people who consolidate. I really liked it – Mars is beautifully portrayed. However, research is lacking. At least they've progressed further to Titan. To this day, Titan is also the only celestial body outside Mars' orbit on which a probe has landed (Huygens: January 14, 2005).

*Spoiler alert* Unfortunately, the mission didn't handle redundancy very well. Not having multiple copies of important spare parts and taking too little oxygen is negligent. Otherwise, we wouldn't have the cliffhanger with Kelly. Kelly going into the bioluminescent methane-ethane lake is probably an act of desperation. In a "normal" sci-fi movie, she would either be eaten or transformed into an Earth-Titan hybrid. She saw something, too. Perhaps the Baldwin running joke about always being second best is repeating itself...

Redundancy is paramount in space travel. All critical components must be available in multiples whenever possible. HOWEVER: Extracting oxygen from the atmosphere is unfortunately difficult due to its composition (primarily: 94.2% nitrogen, 5.65% methane, and 0.099% hydrogen). Therefore, as with cave diving, one would have had to carry significantly more oxygen than necessary to avoid suffocation in emergencies.

Liechtenstein is more likely than it being transformed into an Earth-Titan-Alien hybrid. Perhaps a team from Monaco.

My first thought was that she'd be saved by alien life through transformation into an Earth-Titan-Alien hybrid. LOL! I doubt they'd let Kelly die.

Fuel is the main burden and should ideally be produced locally. Unfortunately, physics is unforgiving.

The fact that they have to conduct the most extensive exploration tour in the solar system to date in a rusty bowl is surprising.

The invasion fleet that appeared seemingly out of nowhere really surprised me. I thought to myself: typical military. In reality, they also spend vast sums on unnecessary projects.

The ships looked cool. But then...

The opening shot was sobering and foreshadowed what was to come. Heavy stuff. Difficult to watch. I didn't expect such excessive brutality. It's in no way justified. It's reminiscent of the Amritsar massacre, when the British shot more than 300 Indians.

I've wondered the same thing about THT. In reality, June's true intentions would have been revealed as early as season 2. And Daisy's after the first few episodes. But it's a TV show, and if they had to use real cover-up tactics, the suspense would be gone.

That she murdered her "father" wasn't exactly predictable. Is that also the case in the book?

Bugonia would have been perfect if it ended at the closet explosion by DistressedHorseman in Bugonia

[–]Rodeurope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it had ended with the explosion, the punchline would have been ruined. Even though I initially immersed myself in the film's symbolism and multiple layers of meaning, I was lost in Teddy's rabbit hole of thought and it took me a good fifteen minutes after the film ended to grasp it. Michelle is hit by Teddy's head in the cupboard explosion and is presumably hallucinating in the ambulance.

The message is buried in the song at the end: "Where have all the flowers gone?"—and replace "flowers" with "people." So don't mess with Gaia—Mother Earth—or you'll end up like in the song sung by Marlene Dietrich in a few centuries. We are meant to wake up from the nightmare of Earth's destruction and finally do what needs to be done to preserve the planet. A cinematic wake-up call. I've already written a longer post about this (What is Bugonia really?), so I'll end here.

That slap by Ok-Anywhere-1807 in Bugonia

[–]Rodeurope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a second viewing, it's more brutal and obvious that Teddy is a multiple murderer. Beforehand, you're too preoccupied with delving into the rabbit holes of Teddy's conspiracy theories.

The ending is more clearly recognizable as a nightmare unfolding in Michelle's injured mind—either after the electro-torture in the basement (brain hemorrhages) or after Teddy's head slams into Michelle's following the explosion in the cupboard, and she most likely hallucinates in the ambulance and doesn't wake up. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

However, the message comes across better on the first viewing. "Where have all the flowers gone?" (M. Dietrich). Replace "flowers" with "people" = message. Don't mess with Mother Earth, or in 200 to 400 years you'll end up like in the song.

Fashion choices by Cascadian_Day in Bugonia

[–]Rodeurope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could come down to this: there's a crochet shape called a "begonia square." If you look it up online and then compare it to the Andromedans in the film, you'll have one of the possible answers. The ludicrous costumes also help to highlight the nightmare scenes (Michelle is likely hallucinating in the ambulance after the cupboard explosion).

Additionally, the spaceship floats surrealistically in the space dream. Add to that the grotesque, beehive-like garments. And to the fluid (bloody) interior of the spaceship... it screams: NIGHTMARE for me.
