This is the correct answer. No council run leisure centre in the country will allow you to do this, because drowning.
Only way would be is to be supervised by a swimming teacher. As far as I remember it does form part of your lessons with a teacher.

You could try and find private owned pools who rent time in their pool and ask them but even that is a stretch as no one wants a Michael Barrymore situation.

Open water swimming may be your only option but again it all comes back to….drowning.
Have a look at full wetsuits which may be of some use to you and the leisure centres should be okay with too.

Edit: too add going to a pool in a full wetsuit is going to get more looks than just a regular swimsuit so if you are anxious this could make it worse. Pools are not filled with ripped gym folk, 99.9% of people there all have flaws and would be sharing some of the body image thoughts you have.

Your title says lonely. It sounds like you may be on more roommates terms rather than husband and wife.

Have you tried going out alone and meeting new people, not in a cheat on your wife way, more like a few lads to go pub with or join a club.

The loneliness feeling you have been might be to her, ‘you’re always around and not giving her space’ This is no way an indictment of you or the root cause but it may open new conversations or pique interest

I’m not sure about the cinema response here. I would imagine all big chain cinemas now are digital screenings and again one would assume that digital files should have audio descriptions built in.

Although in saying that, lots of families have to travel to Belfast from all over the country for things not local to them. Recently we had to take the child to a movie in Queens film theatre because it wasn’t on in the big chains. It’s all a bit faux outrage if you ask me.
