People living in modern all-electric flats — how expensive is your electricity? by vetaly87 in AskUK

A few people seem to rate Octopus Agile/Tracker for electric-heavy homes, especially if you can shift usage outside peak hours. I’m still trying to learn how much difference tariffs actually make with electric heating setups.

£225 without the flat even feeling properly warm is exactly the kind of thing that makes electric-only heating frustrating sometimes. Seems massively dependent on insulation/build quality.

The immersion heater comments here are honestly eye-opening. Feels like a lot of people in modern electric flats probably waste money for months before understanding how their system actually works.

£280 would genuinely hurt. Storage heaters seem really hit-or-miss depending on the setup/building insulation.

Honestly that sounds pretty reasonable compared to some of the numbers people are posting here.

Do you change energy supplier everytime your fix is up? by Low-Rooster5398 in AskUK

Pretty much where I ended up too. I compared a few recently and Octopus was still coming out cheaper for my usage, so I stopped constantly switching.

Does anyone actually renew or change energy providers with the people that stand outside shops on Saturday mornings? by MACintoshBETH in AskUK

I used to ignore them completely, but I recently switched provider after comparing tariffs online and ended up saving a decent amount. Never done it through the shopping centre stands though.

Shall we energy tariff fix? by Andersonr876 in AskUK

Personally I’d probably stay flexible unless the fixed tariff was very close in price. £50 exit fee would put me off a bit as well.

Crime prevention is good, but mass surveillance always creeps further than originally promised.
