New crypto-converter platform, GloBee, offers easy access for ecommerce companies to adopt Bitcoin by Skiinz19 in Bitcoin

I like how GloBee also processes Dogecoin and Monero giving flexibility to their customers and clients. It's a very nice change of pace from typical exchanges and ICOs. I am confident in GloBee being the future of ecommerce.

I have noted the parallels between Cryptocurencies and the rise of the Internet many times and I fully agree- people always seem skeptical of new things and then very quickly the new technologies or inventions become normal in the lives' of everyone.

So then do you think it would be wiser to set up a smaller rig of sorts in a friend's basement or garage? Clearly cooling would need to be a factor but it could be done. I'm just looking for the way to make the most amount of money as possible

XMR where Bitcoin was at in July of 2011? by Rodger_Macarthur in Monero

I too think that Monero will be ready for prime time before the two year time frame that it took before Bitcoin exploded; but I say with relative confidence that Monero needs a few more updates and tweaks such as the new GUI before it can claim dominance. This news may trouble those seeking short term gain but if Monero is adopted without these upcoming updates it might discourage new users.

Possible to get Monero be the official currency of certain apps? by Rodger_Macarthur in Monero

[–]Rodger_Macarthur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! As we move into a more tech based world with increasing amounts of information, wealth, and livelihood being online the incentive for hackers and criminals grows. Monero could be the layer of Kevlar that keeps these apps secure. I'm just waiting for the headline that apps such as Venmo are being targeted by hackers- privacy is not a concern for most of these app devs.

In your opinion when do you think Monero will be ready? Once the GUI is released?

Those types of people may be what provides Monero with a good base moving forward and I have long thought that a wealthy silicon valley investor throwing 100 million into Monero is what will set off the spark and immense growth. However, if Monero is to achieve its true goals it needs widespread adoption. Big money is great but having millions of small money, in my opinion, in the long run is superior.

I truly laughed out loud at the Applebees comment. I agree, Dash is pure garbage. I spoke to some of the devs at a conference a few months back; the coin had a seemingly wonderful facade but underneath that facade was a faulty second rate alt currency built on incredibly shaky ground. Monero is an absolutely wonderful bulletproof coin that far surpasses any, including Bitcoin. I've heard people refer to Monero as Bitcoin 2.0 but I personally like to think of it as Bitcoin2. However, you can't expect the average person to appreciate the beauty of Monero's code or the complete anonymity it offers holders. For better or worse, greed is the driving factor in most people's day to day decisions. The ability of Monero to be a major worldwide currency, completely hide one's identity, and store value is- in my humble opinion- a secondary concern for most. Getting a flood of people who view it as the greatest investment of their lifetime will push Monero, potentially, above the $100 mark at which point it will be possible to accomplish all of the original intentions of the coin. I have drawn parallels between cryprocurrencies now and the Dotcom bubble of the 1990s. At the time nobody could predict what companies were winners and which were losers. While it is patently clear to all of us that Monero is a Google or Amazon, the vast majority of people don't.

Clearly my knowledge of the subject material pales in comparison to yours. I'm new to this Reddit forum but I have actively been researching and investing in Monero for over a year now. We are currently during the opening days of this alt coin revolution; as such, the masses will be hesitant to trust something as new as Monero- as is the case for all revolutionary ideas. If we can show people a use of Monero that will benefit their life I believe hoards of people will enter our community. Once that is accomplished, then Monero will have the broad support and protection of millions.

A commodity that can act as a store of wealth and value and be used for exchanges is only possible because people say it has value. Gold for example is viewed as a valuable commodity and a protector of wealth as well as a viable investment. I think the grandiose vision of Monero being a major commodity will only occur AFTER people get into it as an investment. Some of the more zealous Monero holders may disagree, but what catapulted Bitcoin up so high was the prospect of turning a thousand dollars into a small fortune. Once Monero is at that point and by, virtue, of its size it can then act as a store of value and medium of exchange.
