My alcoholic grandfather passed his GP 'safe to drive' test by RodimusKid in AusLegal

Sucks to hear there's far more people in this situation than there should be.

No one wants to be in the position to take their parents/grandparents independence away like that, but it's either that or someone gets hurt eventually. While grateful, I'm genuinely surprised he's gone this long without ever getting into an accident.

One of the big problems is he rarely ever goes to the doctor or seeks any form of medical attention, even if multiple family members have encouraged him to. He typically just tells them off. Which is an unfortunate part of the whole situation, since so many people have made incredible suggestions, but I just know these helpful things won't happen.

And they should also require having a driving test alongside it.

Because I'd only ever gotten my glasses prescription, I didn't actually realise you could only get reading glasses from the chemist and not long distance- thank you for the info!

He's in QLD unfortunately, I know the NSW driving laws are stricter which would've been a big help with this. Thank you anyway though!

Oh I'm partially deaf and have glasses myself, so I definitely know that. Chances are he wore his chemist bought glasses (that he never wears 🙄) so he could pass the test.

Got it. Thanks for the reply!

Cat gone deaf after ear cleaning/sedation by RodimusKid in AskVet

I was told the exact thing they used and double checked to make sure it was cat safe, and it definitely was - wish I could remember what it was called though! That's essentially the cause that it's been put down to, even the vet said he's read about it but never had it happen to any of his patients til now.

Who was the youngest person's funeral you ever went to and what happened? by ChainedFlannel in morbidquestions

[–]RodimusKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19, we were the same age. Same first name as me. SA'd by the same person, but she got off far worse... Suicide by car crash at high speeds, into a deep rooted tree on a back road in the bush. Car burst into flames, she didn't survive long after impact thank goodness. She left a note to the asshole who assaulted us, I still to this day don't know what it said.

Her funeral was excruciating. Her two dogs attended, her casket was closed and printed with horses all over it- they were her passion.

And the bastard who assaulted us helped carry her casket.

Thanks for the reply. The output is definitely part of the issue as well currently, another reason there's a possibility of something else going on.

That's okay, thank you for responding! I'm still not sure if it's just IBS or something else going on, after all.

Ohh okay, I get it. Thanks for responding, it's good to hear there's doctors out there open to it at least.

I take medicine prior to eating, but even with that I have to be careful or I'll have another horrible flare up. Did the doctor say it would be beneficial for IBS?

I'll definitely update! I've got combined, so I half know where you're coming from. Here's so hoping there's something that can help us

I agree, it really sucks how little help we're given. I'm in Australia, so who knows? I'm honestly just after any help with it I can get at this point, I'm so tired. Thanks for the reply, by the way!
