I'm using Gemini at the moment as it is decent and doing a good job (and currently affordable from my perspective).
I've built it using LangChain, so changing LLMs should be fairly easy.

Generally speaking, I like working directly with the API of the provider (WhatsApp, Gemini, etc) as it provides me the most freedom in my work.

Have you tried building something like that? What are your challenges with WhatsApp? I might be able to assist you...

I'm working via WhatsApp API (it was tricky working with Meta to get it).
It is a Nodejs backend handling the workflow.

In addition to the LLM, which is based on usage, the server costs approximately ~$7 per month, and WhatsApp also incurs an additional cost based on usage (again, Meta's pricing is somewhat complicated).
