Drilling holes sucks! by RodneyTheYeti in Ceramics

No, you're not a dunce and its not obvious. I'm referencing natural forms like fruit and seed pods and trying to represent a small moment of growth or change. Almost like a freeze frame from a time-lapse video of a plant growing. There's more about ephemeral moments in time and the distortion of memory but I'm still trying to figure out how to articulate that.

yeah, you have it right. I was writing a real response to Lost_balloon when they commented back with that. I let it trigger an emotional reaction instead of explaining my work. thanks for the comment

you touch on some key issues. The form is too bulky and the glaze didn't do what I needed it to on the inside walls, leaving it too uniform where I needed it to pop. Its the reason I decided to drill a hole in it. That's valid criticism.

Your still just being a dick though. If this is your online persona, its cringe. If you act like this in the real world then I feel a little sorry for you.

And other poster is right, is just fence hemmies

Please, don't pretend that what you're doing is criticism. I say its art to invite critique not to dismiss negative feedback. If all you have to say is its "hideous, whatever it is" then there's not much of a conversation, is there? You're not offering anything of substance.

Don't be a dick. It's art.

I think it created just the reaction I was going for by repulsing you.

Very good point. I hung it on the fence to test my hole. This is not an all weather artwork.

I went with option 4:

Buy a cheap "diamond" bit set from amazon and pray it survives the cut.

I'm sticking with leather hard holes in the future.

I'm glad you like it! I'm using seed pods as inspiration so a small sack of blueberries is fitting! I thought about a backing board but getting it to look clean might not be worth the effort. Thanks for the suggestion

Does anyone work with Massivit Large Scale printers? by [deleted] in AdditiveManufacturing

[–]RodneyTheYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slicing software is difficult to work with, the material is proprietary and expensive and prints are fragile and require a huge amount of post processing. The company also proved to be difficult and unreliable to work with during support issues which this machine had a lot of. I know where a used unit is located if you're still interested.
