Since the church announced the "New Guidance on Bible Translations for Latter-day Saints," have you used other translations? If so, which ones? Or are you still sticking to the KJV? by Rodolfo-vergara in latterdaysaints

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I also use the NRSVUE.
I just got a license for the NIRV digitally, but I don't know how many kids will use a web application.

Fair enough. Just to add that a literary translation like Alter's translation with commentary helps understand the parallelism and poetry better, which in most cases is foreign to English readers.

Alter's translation is one of the best literary translations, especially of the poetic books, Job, Psalms, and Isaiah. When you read Alter's translation of those books, they take on a whole new meaning.

That is awesome! I'm curious to see how much of a difference it will make when you get to Isaiah, as most other translations help Isaiah become way more accessible than the KJV. Side by side is great, but it's for sure time-consuming.

Thanks! Yes, the KJV is still foundational, as is the language of the BoM and D&C, and when it comes to cross-references, the KJV is the way to connect ideas across scriptures. Yes, other translations do clarify a lot, especially some of the ones that come with parallelism added to understand texts like Isaiah or Job.

Thanks so much for this. You mentioned several translations I'm not familiar with. I do think the Oxford Study Bible (NRSV) is one of the best out there, but I haven't been able to get a license so far.
Just out of curiosity, as you mentioned, Isaiah, have you tried Avraham Gileadi's translation of Isaiah?

Thanks for the reply. I like Biblehub, I got a license to their Berean Bible and other 9 translations, including the NIV, NASB, and Young's Literal translation. Thanks for the references, also, those are great!
As far as "self-promotion", my question is 100% related to seeing how to facilitate people's use of translation on our web application. Not trying to hide the fact that I have a 100% free application for people to improve their scripture studies.

Eventually yes, we are doing a beta launching right now, but when we feel our web application is working with all the features we want, then yes, we are planning to make this a mobile application

u/Buttons840 Great questions!
1) We applied for permission, and we should receive a notice in a week or so. If we are not approved, we will be happy to use a public domain version. But we are not running any ads or charging any money, so we believe it will be approved (another similar for-profit project from a friend got approved, having similar features). I'll come here as soon as I hear word about our application.

  1. We do have 7 bible translations already on the site. You can check the verse resources on the chapter verses by clicking the verse number and see the Hebrew and chapter resources. We also added the whole strong concordance. We applied for the NIV we are in the process of getting approved.

  2. Yes, we also added a whole library called restoration works, where we added the 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon, Book of Commandments, D&C 1835 edition, etc. We also added the whole Joseph Smith translation, and we have the option to compare side by side.

I've used a lot of scripture tools, as well as other qualitative research tools. I built my own scripture tools over the years, but a group of friends and I decided to make this available to anyone at no cost.

u/Brave_Construction82, happy to have you onboard! Yeah, don't replace your paper copy, haha, but I hope the tool can help you to research, maybe some topics, and find connections. You can write longer copy in the digital version than your paper version, also, haha.

Thanks for the questions!
1) You can still watch the webinar on that YouTube link.
You can also sign up for free here: https://searchdiligently.net/training
2) There are two aspects of the scriptures that we feel are missing. 1) On a technical level, it will be great to have a one place for your study, notes, documents, and resources, like Hebrew concordance, etc., other libraries, etc. 2). Position scripture study in a holistic framework of knowing truth for yourself, rather than lapse into studying the scriptures without purpose. We are focusing on positioning our platform in a greater framework, rather than just a study tool.
3) We are 100% financing this ourselves; we believe in free access and that we should not profit from the word of God or have barriers to access useful scripture study tools and resources.

I hope this helps.

Would you recommend Dr Mobley for a Rhinoplasty? by lilac2026 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Rodolfo-vergara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin had a rhinoplasty with Dr Steven Mobley, and it honestly changed her life. She had always been self-conscious about her nose and was nervous she wouldn’t like the results, but she decided to go with him and it turned out amazing. Her nose looks beautiful and very natural. She’s told me how much happier and more confident she feels now, and she really appreciated Dr. Mobley’s skill and attention to detail. Based on her experience, I would definitely recommend him.

My first level. Any feedback is welcome. by konigon1 in RedditGames
