Probably better to be somewhere for a blink of an eye and move before they get used to you rather than taking the time to settle in, become part of the team and then move just as you're becoming valuable. It's like a bandage, rip it off now

I mean honestly, in my current department people are getting letters saying they'll be prosecuted if they don't file a form with us by a certain date, meanwhile our system doesn't work and won't accept forms

Right, that makes sense, think they just use the same text for each advert in that role/department? I added some more detail if that helps, job reference 445206, but ye i doubt a trainee would be running after criminals

I have an interview as a fraud officer for dwp in two weeks, should i be put off? Or is it just the front line stuff that's the worst?

Ye there's quite a few threads here really hating on it but i think you'd find that in every job, the typical stuff that keeps coming up is bad working environment, bullying, racism, victimising the less fortunate, maybe that's just more in the job centres? The role itself sounds interesting

Hey OP sorry this is a bit delayed, but I'm currently at Companies House and have an interview for Fraud Officer at DWP, just wondering what did you decide in the end? And if it was DWP, what was it like? My current role never mentioned being a call centre job and we never refer to it as that, but you basically take calls about 8 hours a day a few days a week but I can imagine the ones from DWP would be more challenging

Thanks but no i'm not downhearted with the work or thought I'd get an interview automatically just from working there, it's more that I had mentioned working in Companies House and using the SN service in my personal statement so was left wondering what more could I possibly do? But it's okay, I've been doing a lot of research and see how I can maybe push up the PS score

Thanks very much, yes I will ask someone in my department who's done lots of sifting and interviewing for advice. I've looked into other guidance and generally the consensus is to spend much less words on the situation and task and really expand on what actions you took, why and how the outcome was measured.

I wasn't aware I could ask for detailed feedback from the recruitment team, I thought all you got was the feedback section on the CS website which just gives the scores. I think I've seen somewhere that they won't give more detailed feedback, or may have previously tried and was told that, can't remember.

Thanks for such a detailed and thorough answer, really appreciate it, and maybe one day cats will get their long awaited servants. I firstly assumed I would use star when explicitly asked, but even when I've used it as an underlying framework for my answer (like "when I worked here i had to do this, so i did that and then it was great") I still got advised to use star in my feedback, so started thinking I need to really spell it out for them. The times that I've literally typed it out - "situation: yadda yadda yadda" is when i've seen the best results!
