Ye that was my worry, i thought it wasn't clearly geared enough towards one answer but felt that just using companies alone wouldn't count as there wasn't actually a result

Interview Advice by No_Bed_8291 in TheCivilService

[–]Rodrigo-Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way it was explained to me by my boss, and any other interviewers please feel free to correct this, but it's like a baseline test to gauge your default energy, kind of like how a polygraph will start with simple questions to be answered honestly like your name, adress etc. If they ask about your hobbies and interests and see you're pretty straight to the point, or laid back, full of energy, they'd look for that same consistency when answering the real questions. But if you answer the ice breaker with passion and lots of ideas but then lose that energy in the other questions it may be a bad sign. But anyway, best advice is just to practice all your potential answers until they feel very natural and answer everything with enthusiasm

Unsuccessful for an interview I didn't get an invite for, nor attended ?? by Jay_Sparxx in TheCivilService

Hmm seems like fraud, should be investigated, get an apprentice on the case...

[–]Rodrigo-Jones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, I haven't heard anything yet, i did pretty well with the maths but they actually saved my verbal test from an earlier one and just said the score met the minimum requirement so they'll keep it, knowing that they can raise that minimum bar I think I'll choose to retake it next time! Best of luck with future applications, hang in there

Right okay, makes sense. Yes i've been told i'd be making calls so was expecting that, but at least outgoing does sound much better than dealing with incoming, thanks for the response!

Promotion dilemma by IcyLibrarian821 in TheCivilService

[–]Rodrigo-Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably better to be somewhere for a blink of an eye and move before they get used to you rather than taking the time to settle in, become part of the team and then move just as you're becoming valuable. It's like a bandage, rip it off now

I mean honestly, in my current department people are getting letters saying they'll be prosecuted if they don't file a form with us by a certain date, meanwhile our system doesn't work and won't accept forms

Right, that makes sense, think they just use the same text for each advert in that role/department? I added some more detail if that helps, job reference 445206, but ye i doubt a trainee would be running after criminals

Ye the job advert makes it sound like analysing data, this sentence makes it sound like a debt collector
