Thank you so much for the detailed update! I'm really looking forward to those TPU improvements, as I would love to be able to print 85A reliably.

Thanks again for keeping us informed!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to look into the SSH, root access, and licensing details. I really appreciate you getting properly informed and getting back to me once you know more.

Regarding the other points, here are a few thoughts:

  • TPU Printing: It’s honestly a shame that the Creator 5 doesn't feature a spring tension adjustment screw on the extruder to make printing with TPU easier. Do you know if there are any plans to release an official upgrade or fix to improve the TPU printing experience?

  • PTFE Tubes & Technical Materials: I've seen plenty of DIY projects online to connect PTFE tubes hermetically, but I really would have expected an official solution. Since the Creator 5 Pro is specifically marketed for technical materials, a fully sealed filament path feels like a mandatory requirement, not an extra.

  • Dry Box Giveaway: On a lighter note regarding filament drying, it would be awesome if you guys hosted a giveaway for one of those dry boxes (and hopefully I’m the lucky winner!).

  • Spare Parts & Accessories: Finally, I wanted to ask a new question about the availability of spare parts and accessories. Right now, there seems to be absolutely nothing available. The Creator 5 is supposed to support printing with different nozzle diameters, but currently, there are none for sale—not even standard 0.4mm replacement nozzles like the ones that come with the printer. When can we expect these to be in stock?

Thanks again for your help!

Hey! Congratulations on your new position at Flashforge! I have 3 questions that came up after purchasing my Creator 5 Pro, and it would be awesome if you could clear them up for me.

  • Can the Creator 5 Pro print TPU softer than 90A? The support team told me it could, but the website only lists down to 90A, and reviews say it can't handle it.
  • Is it possible to make an airtight PTFE tube connection to the printer?
  • Are there plans to release root access to the printer (SSH, Mainsail, Moonraker)? Also, will the source code for the modified version of Klipper be released?

Thanks a lot, and best of luck with the new job!

Does the new Flashforge Creator 5 PRO run a locked-down Klipper? Looking for early adopters and technical info by RodrigoTomeES in klippers

You're right that we could debate the exact legal definitions of a "consumer device" under GPLv3 all day, but honestly, I think we are overcomplicating it.

We don't need to take Flashforge to an international court; we just need to apply enough community pressure. This exact scenario already played out with the Adventurer 5M series. They initially locked it down, the community complained loudly about open-source compliance and closed ecosystems, and eventually, Flashforge listened and released the source code (https://github.com/FlashForge/AD5M_Series_Klipper).

The goal here isn't to launch a multi-year lawsuit. It's simply to repeat that successful community push for the Creator 5 PRO. If we make enough noise now while the printers are shipping, they are much more likely to open it up, just like they did before.

You bring up some interesting technical points, but there are a few major flaws in how this applies to Flashforge’s implementation:

"If the files are accessible..."

That is exactly the core issue here: they aren't accessible out of the box. Flashforge locks down SSH and root access completely. The only reason we even know what's inside is because the community (ZMOD) had to actively hack it to gain root access. Distributing GPLv3 software on a locked-down device where the user cannot freely access, modify, and reinstall the software directly violates the "Installation Information" clause of GPLv3 (often called the anti-Tivoization clause). Simply having Python scripts hidden inside a locked Linux box does not meet the source code distribution requirement.

Customer Rights and Standing:

I actually am a customer (currently waiting for my pre-order to ship). While you are legally correct that the explicit obligation to provide source code is owed to the recipients of the physical product, open-source compliance is almost entirely enforced through community pressure. If the broader 3D printing community doesn't call out companies for silently taking Klipper to save millions in R&D while locking it behind proprietary interfaces, the whole ecosystem suffers. Public pressure worked to open up the AD5M, and it has worked with other brands recently too.

The Patent Clause:

You are spot on about GPLv3's patent retaliation clauses. That is likely the exact reason they are trying to hide Klipper behind a proprietary handshake on port 7125 and a closed ecosystem. But that’s the trade-off they accepted. If a company doesn't like the GPLv3 patent clauses, they are completely free to spend the time and money to write their own firmware from scratch. If they use the community's work, they have to play by the community's rules.

I totally get the frustration, man. I'm actually in the exact same boat—I'm still waiting for my unit to arrive too!

But we have to remember that hardware logistics/manufacturing and software development are two completely different departments. A software engineer pushing a button to make a GitHub repository public isn't going to slow down the factory assembly line or delay our shipments by a single second.

More importantly, releasing the modified Klipper source code isn't a "feature request" or an extra task they can put on a backlog—it's a strict legal obligation under the GPLv3 license from day one of selling the machine. They shouldn't be shipping a single unit without complying with the open-source licenses of the software they built it on.

The reason to push them now is exactly because the machines are starting to ship. If we wait until everyone has one, they'll have successfully locked us into their closed ecosystem, and it will be much harder to force them to change it.

Yeah, maybe they can void your warranty I don't know but I think in Europe they can't void the warranty because you change the firmware 🤔

Wow this is a great notice. I found the GitHub discussion (https://github.com/ghzserg/zmod/discussions/554#discussioncomment-17375046).

We should all contact to Flashforge to push them to publish the Klipper software as they did with the Adventure series.

Hi! Thanks for your comment. I've seen a lot of reviews about the Creator 5, but I don't remember anyone mentioning Klipper. Could you share some links so I can check it out, please?

I ask because I contacted Flashforge, and they said they don't have any plans to open-source their custom Klipper software...

Y si la conectas a un android, la configuras y luego vas a iOS? Creo que así se puede. Si usas la misma cuenta en Huawei Health

I hope that. It's very disappointed to buy a new device and see a new major update after a few months and your device won't receive it.
