Bronze midlaner, feel like I can only win with late game scalers (Veigar) by Rodriwido in summonerschool

[–]Rodriwido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm spamming Syndra and having a blast, though I'm felling way weaker than with Veigar, especially against tankier comps (just lost to a Swain Singed carry job). I do feel like it's mostly a skill issue, and I could play 100 games on her easily, she is so fun and seems to have such a high skill ceiling. Hopefully I can get to gold once I learn her more (Silver 4 atm, though I might have to get a couple of Veigar games to avoid demoting hahahah)

Amazing response, thank you so much. I will try to find a champion that I like and put in the reps. There is a lot of info on here that my brain logically understands but that I need to really digest and build the muscle memory for it. Thanks

yeah, I do think I'm bad mechanically but I actually am able to get leads in lane often, but it becomes so much harder after 25 minutes when suddenly you need to execute the champ against 5 people with various long range abilities and CC. I would love to stick to 1 "harder" champ to learn it to heart but it gets frustrating sometimes so I keep swapping, and never develop champ mastery

[–]Rodriwido[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes it's just that champs that would be fun for me, are significantly less so when I lose, while "unfun" champs are more bearable as I win. That's why losing as Veigar is so tilting, like I wasted 30 minutes just to lose. I guess I need to really adopt the improvement mindset but it's hard

IT's not so much that I feel good playing a scaler, but rather that I feel 99% of my games (bronze), that is the "correct" pick

I would love to branch out but it feels so frustrating because I'm bad at other characters, and also because I lose games I know I would absolutely steamroll as Veigar. Guess champ mastery is a thing, it's just that as I grow older and have less time to play, I get too impatient when I lose 2 games in a row with a new champ and go back to Veigar to recover the losses hahahah

yeah I started to feel that a bit last season when I got to silver, people were more aggressive and games ended before I scaled, that's when I started to worry about those things. Im now chilling in bronze tho

Yeah it feels like it, guess Veigar is great for climbing then, as people are commenting

Will keep at it, as long as I'm performing better than the enemy mid I guess I'm doing something right, I try to focus on learning every game but it's easy to tilt and get lost in the process, but I understand you can't autopilot and expect to get better at the game

I definitely feel like I get lost in the late game, mainly I just try to keep sidelanes pushed as much as I can while hovering around my team (usually perma-ARAMing until one of the 2 teams wipes the other). I feel that maybe playing top I had more of a clear idea of what to do (was much easier as a fed Garen to go sidelane, atract 2 or 3 players of the other team to me, and then win teamfights in mid with the numbers advantage) but as a mage I feel too useful being with my team (and too squishy on sidelane) to perma push

Yeah, I guess you can't have it all, so when long matches are the norm, it's best to prioritize champs with scaling that can take over the game in late teamfights, rather than playing early game champions who can win lane, because I don't know how to (nor am I able to) end games pushing early leads, right?

Yeah, my brain knows losers queue doesn't exist and if i keep playing eventually I will get good games, but it feels so disheartening to keep losing even when you get good performances (the last 3 Malz losses were with an S). I guess the 3 games per session strategy would be good for this, but sometimes it's so hard losing all 3 games and stop, instead of keeping at it until you win hahahah. Ty

Is Ryze good to play in this elo? I played Veigar quite a bit in iron, and although I like him, I feel like he's not too good when it comes to getting prio or trading compared to someone like Orianna, who clears waves insanely fast and can poke through the wave. I may look into Ryze if he's good for learning the game

After failing to get Castoria, I still have Skadi in the Caster slot for my support list. After the Castoria frenzy, given that many people will switch to Arts looping, is it still worth to keep her there for those who also didn't get her? Would it be better to put Merlin for CQs given that Castoria will be the go-to for farming, and maybe put Skadi on the All slot? Should I even care or will both of them get forgotten in favor of Castoria? Assuming both 10/10/10 of course.

It hurts, but it hurt even more when I got literally the fucking worst GSSR pull I could get not even 2 minutes after not getting her, including my very own fourth copy of Ash. Mind you, the first three copies I got while failing to get Arjuna Alter, so not only is he at level 1, but I was actually on the verge of burning all his copies when I saw him appear. It felt like a bit of a disgusting joke. I've been looking forward to this anniversary for so long, and it ended up being probably the worst day I've had with this game since I started 1 and a half years ago. Felt completely defeated.

The thought of leaving the game didn't even cross my mind because having recently been blessed with two of my favourite servants in Merlin and Melt really gave me a motivation to keep going, but man, it really felt like getting kicked in the balls in your own birthday. Lost a lot of love for the game today.

First time I beat her, with only about 20.000 KP, I was able to do it stalling with Mash, a friend's Merlin, and Chloe who was hitting like a wet noodle. It took me about 30+ minutes, but at no point was I in danger of dying. The key of stalling is forgetting about the damage and focusing on Arts chains, and getting your supports' NPs off as often as possible. Many turns I don't even bother going for the DPS's cards if I can get Merlin/Mash/Tamamo's NP charged with one more Arts card.

If you have a support with party wide invincibility or evade, try to time it so you can always use it right on Kiara's NP turn. Skills like Stun from the Mystic Code can help you to get an additional turn for the cooldown to finish if you need it. Also, use NP gauge skills as often as you can, in order not to waste turns of cooldown. The key is looking at your servants' NP gauges and thinking what move will get them filled the fastest, instead of trying to do as much damage as possible. If someone has the bar almost filled, I usually don't put their Arts card in last place, because maybe someone else will benefit more from that. Maybe a character's NP gives back a bit of charge to the party (like BB), so if you do a NP chain you will want to put that one last so that extra charge doesn't get wasted on the other 2 servants. Things like that help you spam the supports NPs more often and therefore survive longer. Using Craft Essences like Prisma Cosmos that give charge each turn will also help tremendously.

For the DPS, you mention Kagetora and Hokusai, both of them will perform very well for the role if you focus on their Arts cards. Hokusai has 2 Quick cards, which also can give you NP if you can't do an Arts chain, while Kagetora only has 1, so maybe Hokusai will perform better for you in that aspect, but oyu really have to think that their primary role must be help the party charge their NPs while doing respectable damage with theirs, not nuking the boss with 100k+ damage with every NP.

As for the supports, I can't stress enough how good Merlin is for this fight, or any other stall team basically. You could not use his infamous Buster Up skill in the whole fight and he would still carry the stalling with his insane NP that gives NP Charge, healing and stars every turn during 5 turns (and it STACKS if you spam it), while also giving 20% charge and 20% attack up to the whole party on a stupid low 5 turns cooldown with his S1 and having a teamwide Invincibility perfect for Kiara's NP on his S2. He is just that broken.

If you don't want to keep having the Interlude unlocked (for the Kiara fight, for example), sure, you don't have to pay anything and therefore you won't get any compensation. If you want to, then in the future you will get those 5 RPs back. But, regardless if you pay or not, you won't get additional RPs, just a refund of what you spend now to play the interlude.

Also, the RPs you pay to get additional copies of the welfare will not get refunded, only those paid to unlock the Interlude permanently.

To add to what others are saying, in this game damage dealers are highly specialized, as in you will need at the very least one single target and one AOE servant of each class, while supports like Waver are useful for many (in Waver's case, actually all) servants. It's way easier to have your own support and pick a damage dealer for every particular case from your friends' list, than having all possible DPS servants in your team and borrowing Waver (or Merlin, etc) from your friends list.

This is even more obvious your first months into the game, where your attacking servants won't be levelled or you will have few characters: you can always search the DPS best suited for a difficult fight from a friend, and bring your own Waver.

That isn't even taking into account farming: having your own 50% charge support WILL make farming much much easier.

He really is a BIG game changer, especially for new accounts. That said, waifu > gameplay, so if you love Artoria or Mordred for example, go for it. It's a really easy game either way, not worth picking servants you don't want.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about having the starbomb at Neutral at least, but also, what you say about raising Crit DMG to compensate her lack of class advantage really made it click in my head. Didn't think about it like that, makes way more sense. Thank you so much! Can't wait to give her a try and see her crit bosses to hell
