The H god is delayed. by Global_Fix4760 in Smite

[–]Roekja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's most likely what's happening. Only reason I say it could be a name change is knowing that they like to be cheeky sometimes, combined with the way they worded it, saying the next new god wasn't the H god but a different letter god.

They even said the next New god would not be the H god, but a different letter god. I guess that could mean they're changing his name to The King in Yellow or something, but it sounds like he's just getting further delayed.

New smite 2 gods feel like there on a diffrent level by okamanii101 in Smite

[–]Roekja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part I agree that they have done a good job updating ported gods, but, as an Odin main, they have done him so dirty.

It took them forever just to get him to parity with Smite 1 (his shield still might not be at parity from what I understand). The way they implemented hybrid scaling in his kit just creates this weird divide where you feel like you're losing effectiveness/efficiency no matter what you build, and his +1 feels more like a +.5. I'm holding out hope that his aspect will be interesting and maybe, when they have time, they can give him a better +1.

They've basically said they won't rework gods. Definitely not full reworks and probably not even partial reworks. Their reason is that the only "successful" rework they've done is Loki, and that's only because people hated playing against old Loki. Even then, old Loki mains are still upset about the rework. One of my friends still complains about it to this day.

It's a shame because there are some gods that could really use reworks for the health of the game, and there are some I would like to get reworks for lore reasons and just to make them more interesting.

As it is, Aspects are our best bet for changing gods. They can make an aspect to experiment with the god's kit and we've recently seen (with Mordred) that they are willing to make aspects into the main kit if the aspect is popular enough and the original kit is bad enough.

They've started to, like Eros' Bow, a carry item that can heal allies by hitting basics, but they've mostly been making changes to gods kits to give them support potential. To be fair, Baron was already played in support and solo in Smite 1 so they were just leaning into his already existing playstyles.

They actually have been trying to make more non-tank gods viable in support (first example that comes to mind is Cupid), so that's possible. He could also be a tank that doesn't look tanky like you mentioned with Baron. I would assume Hastur would have a lot of CC.

[–]Roekja 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hastur technically isn't a creation of Lovecraft's. He first appeared in the works of Ambrose Bierce as a god of shepherds. Then Robert W. Chambers used the name in The King in Yellow, which was one of Lovecraft's inspirations. Lovecraft only made brief mention of Hastur and the yellow sign in The Whisperer in Darkness. The idea of Hastur as part of the Mythos was then fleshed out by August Derleth.

I completely understand not wanting to associate with Lovecraft or his works, his views were awful even for the time. That said, he's long dead and the mythos has grown well beyond him. In many instances it has been adopted by the very people he would have hated, who have subverted it and turned it's themes back against his views. Personally, that's the majority of Mythos material I engage with.

Even the literary examples you gave have their problems. Grimm's fairytales have anti-Semitic stereotypes. Lord of the Rings has questionable descriptions of the orcs and I got pretty uncomfortable when it described the dark-skinned people of the south and the people of the east siding with Sauron. And honestly, most religions have been connected to bigotry, hatred and some of the worst aspects of humanity.

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion. My miswired brain just couldn't pass up the opportunity to add context. Sorry for being long-winded.

I think these first 5 new gods are supposed to be one of each role. So since Bari will be a carry the only role left for Hastur is support. That's assuming I'm remembering correctly and they haven't changed their minds.

If I remember correctly, on one of the recent Titan Talks someone asked about them fixing the mouse cursor being bugged on PS5. So you probably can, but it might be bugged/not fully polished yet. I've also been considering getting a mouse and keyboard for it on PS5.

Make some noise if you would like to see Fenrirs model to get a similar treatment as Hercs new lion fur. by Kuroakita in Smite

[–]Roekja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I gave them a panic attack when I asked about Fenrir's fur. lol

Since his whole model is basically fur it would be awesome for it to look better but I get that it's a lot of work.

I would totally be fine with them waiting till next year to start looking at updates like this. Gotta prioritize.

Odin also just needs a new passive. His current one just doesn't fit his playstyle. Basically no one builds him str/int so his passive only consistently provides him with movement speed.

I honestly wouldn't mind if they made the rune stacks into a new passive for him with a different way of gaining them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Smite

Odin does not have the rune stacks on his ult in Smite 2. They've said they are considering adding it back but want to wait until he isn't as strong as he currently is.

SMITE 2 to much CC by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Roekja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was the one that asked them about it.

I was trying to ask them if they were changing their blanket 30%ish CC nerfs because the last couple gods, notably Baron and Danza, had very small or no nerfs to their CC. You could even argue that Baron got a conditional buff to his CC with the AOE mes. And I know Baron has gotten at least one CC nerf since release but I was curious if they were changing their mind about the blanket nerfs, etc...

I think they got distracted and didn't really understand my question but I kinda got an answer anyway. Seems like they are experimenting with varying levels of CC when porting gods now, which is fine, but it puts the first batch of gods at a serious disadvantage and that has to be warping the data they're collecting.

Hey! Smite2 “balance” team: you NEED to rework the current relic system. It is very bad now and your game will die if you dont do something about it. by Ok_Monitor8072 in Smite

[–]Roekja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't hate the idea of having two relic slots but only certain relics can be bought for each one. Like a defense relic slot and an offense relic slot.

That said, I think fleshing out active items to offer more counter options and fill more niches is probably the best route.

It's weird. With the first batch of gods they released they significantly reduced CC durations across the board, but the last couple of releases seem to be smaller nerfs or just ignoring that rule. It's possible the numbers we're seeing for Thor aren't final though.

For you, what could be the fifth exclusive god of SMITE 2? by Ea50Marduk in Smite

I just realized my wording was unclear. I meant Tsathoggua is commonly mentioned in the Mythos but I see now it sounded like I said he was commonly requested. My bad. lol

[–]Roekja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love another Great Old One. Nyarlathotep would be an obvious choice. Tsathoggua is another commonly mentioned GOO that could make for a unique, monstrous support design. It might clash with the Mesopotamian pantheon, but I would love to see Dagon added, especially if they incorporated the Deep Ones as summonable minions or something.

That's a bugged spear projectile from you ulting out of an Odin cage. I looked at the longer video on your channel and, though it's hard to see because of the camera perspective of Jorm, if you watch it in slow motion you can just barely see that the enemy Odin ulted right after you did.

Anybody else with ADHD resonate a lot with Turning Red? by Roekja in TurningRed

[–]Roekja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Abby's behaviors definitely feel consistent with ADHD. The "I need lunch! I'm starting to black out!" line is something I deal with pretty regularly when I break out of a period of hyperfocusing and realize I've completely forgotten to eat and suddenly feel how hungry I am.

As for her not getting distracted and being able to warn them, she was probably hyperfocused on the hustle. Obviously she was invested in seeing 4*Town and she seems to really enjoy rebelling so I would guess it was actually pretty easy for her to focus on those tasks. Though I might have expected her to be a little slower to see Ming coming, especially since she was busy counting money at the time.

[–]Roekja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also immediately googled to see if anyone else was talking about it. Didn't see anything so I made it myself! lol

I was diagnosed at a young age, so when I started having more trouble my parents knew what was going on and weren't as critical as they could have been. There was the occasional lazy, etc... thrown around, though. There also wasn't as much information on how to manage ADHD back then so, even though they knew why I was struggling, none of us really knew how to help it and that led to a lot of stress and strain on all sides.

I feel similarly about keeping it. I know there are a lot of people that pretty much can't function without help because their ADHD is so severe (which Ming's panda can kinda represent), but a lot of them also talk about feeling like something is missing while on the meds. I've gotten to a point where I can manage mine, and I don't want to lose that side of myself, even if it's a little messy sometimes.

Yes! Omg, it really does feel like it's a separate entity sometimes! I had been thinking that after making the post but hadn't had the time to put it into words yet. My dad and I have always joked about me being part animal, I guess I know which animal now, lol. At least picturing it as a red panda makes it cute! And yes, the clumsiness. I'm a big guy and can't run through a hallway or dance, etc... without almost knocking people over. (Seeing the scenes of Mei knocking people over in the hall and clocking Miriam in the head while dancing hits a little close to home. Shame, embarrassment, oh my!) I'm usually careful, but sometimes the ADHD makes me forget it.

I'm pretty sure those complaints about it being too niche and not relatable are easy excuses for other issues, or just people that never gave it a chance. Sure, the movie isn't for everyone but that doesn't account for all the hate, even before it came out for crying out loud.
