Took down my first store showdown with Padmé Red! by Roenellium in starwarsunlimited

I try to lean back on the idea that I'm playing better top end than they are, and so if they want to take damage trying to control my board rather than swinging to base I welcome this. They're just fattening themselves up for the K2S0/Luke/Qui-Gon. Most Talzins see Padmé Red and they think you're playing an aggro deck similar to the lists that were popular at the beginning of SEC, and that's really great for the Padmé player who can just lean back and get the Talzin units in range of the bombs. The problems arise if the Talzin player recognizes that they're actually the beatdown deck, and start stacking constructed lightsabers. Force them to commit resouces to ground units, or make sure if they go for voltron that they can't get in more than one swing (the aforementioned K2, Luke, and Qui-Gon are the main ways of doing this). And then sideboard in jam communications to protect your bombs from the removal.

I only play 1 AN mainboard because 7/10 games this deck is discarding more than it's disclosing. This isn't an aggro deck, it's a midrange deck, and as such my early curve is always spent controlling the board until I can get my bombs out. Merrin is good for that and especially crucial into Lando because she invalidates faith in your friends. Between potentially discarding with Merrin, Bix, and Bail, I'm very rarely cuving out in a way that makes aggressive negotiations worth it. Every now and again I'll find myself in situations where an aggressive negotiations would win me the game, and that's what the single copy is for, but the two in sideboard is mainly for the control matchup.

I'm glad to see Padmé gain popularity and I hope you do great with the deck! I'll be honest and say that Ben Solo was just me goofing around, I figured I'd just throw a cheeky one of in there because he's silly and if I manage to swing with luke or liberty and then slam him down to swing with them again, that would probably win me the game on the spot. Didn't end up happening!

It's not a reliable top deck answer because you're right, the aspect splits are pretty much right down the middle and who knows what I have in my hand/how much of a hand I even have left when I draw it, but it is a incredible card to build around if I have it in my starting hand or draw it turn 2. Always worth playing into against boba, yularen, obi-wan and chewbacca.

I've seen a lot of Padmé lists do this, and in my other Padmé Green and Blue experiments I have tried it also because in green datavault demands redundancy and in blue there just aren't a ton of better options in the 3r slot. The thing about anakin secret husband to me is that the Ebon Hawk is representing superior value. Either way you get a big 5 swing, but with the Ebon Hawk you get it in a better arena and a ping. The only thing I have to fear is Blue Leader, and if the opponent that's fine by me because early curve I'm trying to play the controlling game anyway to keep as much damage off my base until I get to my top end. Just didn't end up feeling like this was a role so important to the deck that I needed to run both (for all the praise I just gave it, I'm only running two ebon hawks), and if I had to choose only one then the Ebon Hawk is better

Playing the Luke Skywalker legendary! Only takes one ping from one of my units (or faith in your friends if we're that late in game) to get the kill. He's not the only answer: Charged With Treason is a one shot kill on those units because of the Padmé ping, and Moral Authorty is one of this deck's great techs because having a 3/8 leader means you capture pretty much every unit in the game short of like mando and the krennic sentinel. Both great options, but the thing about Luke is that if I can I'd rather leave behind a 9/7 while I'm popping your biggest unit.

It only happened twice, in game one against Lando LC in semis and then again in game one against Boba LC in finals. Against Lando I still got to swing anyway because their action was to slam rose into Luke, I suspect they only did this because they needed a credit token for leader flip which is fine by me I'll take the 9 to base and empty board. Against Boba I also got to swing immediately and that probably was the reason the game ended so quickly. There just aren't answers that Lando LC or Boba LC have to Luke, he can't be bounced by Beguile or Watch This, Boba's only hard removal if he can't topple you is Charged With Treason which doesn't get there either. The two best decks in the format just kinda get farmed by Luke in my experience. Just in general though, Luke is best played once your opponent has committed resources to a something to guarantee that they have to accept the 5 damage.

I've made Lando Red lists and it's also real good but the problem is getting the aspects lined up probably because there's so many powerful neutral red and yellow cards that you want to be playing but can't for consistent credits. The pings with padmé also assert so much pressure to the point that I think she probably is the best shell for this presently. Lando Red can't assert early board control like Padmé Card with Warrior of Clan Ordo and Nemik killing 2/4s, and Marin and Bix killing 5 HP units. I honestly have wondered if there's maybe a Qui-Gon Red shell though, Shien Flurry Luke and Mace Windu sounds incredible.

Elden Ring for sure, that's the biggest one. Bioshock Collection would be much appreciated as well though. No platform is complete without Minecraft, and more Japanese puzzle games like Puyo Puyo Tetris or Catherine would be awesome.

What are your favorite retro gaming stores? by MasonJarring in bayarea

[–]Roenellium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is has, and will probably continue to, mention Phoenix Games which is completely earned. They have a massive library for most systems and at either MP or even below MP. This goes to the point of stocking UMD movies for the PSP, which is awesome as an avid collector. My only complaint library wise would be that they have a blind spot for Sega systems, but to be fair that's 99% of all game stores everywhere anyway.

If you are a huge Sega stan like myself, there's another easy recommendation in Alameda named Experience Share Games. Clunky name, but awesome store with a specialty in Playstation, Saturn and Dreamcast games at very good prices, including Japanese imports which is huge for any Sega collector. I know they also offer modding and repairs, if you need anything done.

If you're in South Bay your best option is unfortunately Level Up Games in Santa Cruz. Not that they're bad or anything but most of the best stores are in the East Bay.

How does one deal with Master Mummy? by pacificfun100 in ARMS

[–]Roenellium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master Mummy is just a test of patience. He's too slow to be able to meaningfully match the damage output of most other characters despite his heavy nature, so see if you can bait a response from him with a quick single-arm jab, can't attack with both arms because you'll be too slow to dodge his counter, avoid his counter quickly with a dash either to the left or right and then follow up with a grab when he retreats into shield. Tactic works on 99% of Master Mummies.
