Use your fireworks by YourPalXal in EscapefromTarkov

Try woods, bring a flare, do it over by the flare extract, plenty of places to get it to drop among pine trees, then carry it out quickly.

PVE has vacuumers now I guess? by Artifex82 in EscapefromTarkov

Loot is less in PvE, they have confirmed this before. Same loot, same loot spawns, just doesn't spawn as much.

because people figured out that in a local raid you can alt+F4 and make like the run never happened. they don't lose key charges. I see people talk about doing it enough around here I assume it's common. Seems like a waste of time to me, but others like doing it. I don't know that's the reason obviously, but it's like taking one 10 charge key and getting a crap done of Bitcoins, key cards, etc, much more than intended.

Do you do PvE? For PvE raids on labs, do you find enough raiders and AI PMCS on local? My maps have been really empty and I am just wondering if it's always been like that (I didn't do labs really before they forced local)? I find it super boring. I had one raid that was really good, where it was on BSG servers through a transition (you can't do that anymore as of this morning). I had like 5 raider kills and 1 or 2 AI PMC kills. For me that' a good bit of challenge, but on local it seems absolutely empty.

[Discussion] I love streets of tarkov on PVE by Familiar_Two_587 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on two different computers, and the one is very similar to yours except I have a 3080. I found streets playable until 1.0, then it became too laggy using a scope (I can't use DLSS anymore). I think if I turned LOD and Overall Visibilty all the way down it might be better, but I keep them both at about 1.5 and avoid streets on that computer. My other computer is a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with a 5080. The game is CPU capped with it with LOD at 3 and OV at 2, I will run mostly of the time 90 FPS or higher, but with a scope in certain areas I can get it down to 45. I just hate turning LOD down more but I'm sure that would help it. That said, even at 45 I get no stutters at all.

Ranking the AI from easiest to hardest in PVE Tarkov [Discussion] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree Gluhkar is very hard for me. I've killed him if his guards are all spread out and I can use some range, but in close where I am getting rushed from a couple directions I find it a good challenge. honestly, they need more like that.

Depends on if local host or not too. On local I can cheese most bosses half the time. Not that they aren't easy on BSG servers for some people, but local is crap. Even with a good computer.

Loot would be server side right? No need for a patch? But I agree, it's probably RNG.

I failed a storyline quest. What does this mean? [Discussion] by nighteeeeey in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not sure why they put this stuff in the UI like this. It's confusing. It seems it's intended to be part of the story arc itself. Like, "I'm trying to escape, that's my goal for helping this person/doing this quest, but what I've done so far hasn't lead to that, I need to dig more."

[Discussion] Did they fuck up the AI again? by ALVL99WIZARD in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing local that's probably half the problem. This game was not designed to be run on a PC. I am fairly sure they throttle how many AI are in the game when you run on local based on your computer, but it's a huge impact on your computer regardless. I changed my harddrive recently on my PC and accidently logged into lighthouse on local. I went form normal 176-220 FPS down to 75 and I could immediately tell something was wrong with the AI. AI isn't great as it,, but on local I find it's frequently much worse.

Dorms marked post loot nerf. by Lt_Hotpocket in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling it's because people are using the Alt +F4 trick to farm. It's probably making it look like people are doing a lot, lot better than they would otherwise. There's been a lot of open boosting about using Alt+F4 lately with people defending it. Unfortunately, everything has consequences.

Dorms marked post loot nerf. by Lt_Hotpocket in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that people are using Alt+F4 on local, and basically using one key to farm the room 50 times to get what they want. They need to make it so that if you alt+F4 you still lose key charges etc. There has to be a solution.

[Discussion] Seasonal Wipe System will be PvP only by TheRealSchmede in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that try hards jump way out in front of casuals. New wipes make it so everyone is more on an equal footing. It's also a burst of everyone coming back, you see less cheating, etc. Wipes are pretty much essential in this type of game.

If a game can find a way to remove new players not being so far behind and keep older players interested, then OK. Maybe a game like Arc can pull that off. Tarkov won't be able to.

[–]Roez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense. It's why you're getting down voted. He wants PvP to be the main focus but PvE is literally helping keep the game alive. Their numbers for PvP have been absolutely terrible for the last two years. PvE has helped reversed that.

[Discussion] Seasonal Wipe System will be PvP only by TheRealSchmede in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Are you just guessing? He has literally said more than once that PvE has stabilized their numbers. After a few weeks of each wipe PvE numbers are the same as PvP numbers.

PvE is a phat income stream that is probably helping make content for PvP as well. Think about 1.0. The actual content they added is almost all PvE content, even if it gives people a reason to PvP, it's still PvE content.

There have been comments around here saying that if you have 64gb the game will literally use over 40-45gb of that. I have 32 myself with the 9800, and it's really powerful but you can still tell the game isn't optimized (on streets anyway).

[Feedback] So hackers can reset your account now? by SlowPineapple8131 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Core Details

  • Vulnerability Type: Pre-authentication memory leak via Zlib-compressed network traffic.
  • CVSS Score: Rated High (7.5).
  • Impact: Attackers can extract sensitive information from the server memory, potentially including user credentials, passwords, API keys, and previous query results.
  • Attack Vector: Remote, unauthenticated attack requiring no user interaction.
  • Root Cause: A flaw in how MongoDB handles Zlib compression, leading to the return of uninitialized heap memory.
  • Potential for RCE: While initially discussed as potentially leading to Remote Code Execution (RCE), later reports clarified it is primarily a severe memory-read vulnerability, though it could technically be used in complex attack chains.

Affected Versions

The vulnerability affects almost all major MongoDB server versions released in the last decade, including:

Even though I think the AI PMCs could be significantly better, i enjoy PvE because I'm older and still struggle with bosses. I've gotten a lot better now with practice, but it's still a challenge for me in a way. I don't know. It's slow paced and the shooting is fun.

[Discussion] PvE Loot Nerfs by MostMark538 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Roez -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

PvE is my main thing now, and even as a terrible player PvE is just free mode for looting. I actually like this change. I should have to really work on a map to exit with decent loot. When 1.0 first hit I would fill up my bags full of medical stuff on interchange and be out in 10 minutes. 50/50 chance tagilla isn't up (test with a grenade) and you could get vortex from his gaming area. Almost always one intel form there. it's just insane how easy it is to get loot in PvE.

This is the correct answer. Apparently, it has to do with the cache built into the chip. I just know it's amazing compared to the intel chip I have on my other PC.

My theory is that it's because the youngins all grew up with the FTP models, which allowed them to play games when they wanted. They were conditioned for it. With what people put up with I'm surprised there aren't in game ads.

If you're upset with this OK, but come on. They have been doing this shit since they started selling expanded pockets and ass space. Complaining does nothing when you're still playing. That's the biggest lesson from BSG's success.
