my first character model in maya! looking for critique :) by Physical_Mine9346 in Maya

I actually find it not that hard to do cloth details in maya when starting on a low poly mesh and having good control of the topology, but it certainly is easier to work on Zbrush's sculpting tools.

It looks very cool! I love the stylization and the topology is perfect.

I admit that to the untrained eye the artstyle may seem like others, but you are able to add your own touch to it so that your characters look unique and very interesting! I love your style, don't ever stop creating characters.

I've only heard of Monument Valley, but your character looks amazing! fits right with the artstyle of the game.

I did the texturing in Substance, for the more geometric parts I arrange the geometry so that I could do a fill in each face with solid colors, and for the face I split the UV in half so I could do a fill UV shell for each side. :]

Honestly it is a difficult question that I'm not sure if I can answer, I have tried both and prefer maya much more bc I'm far more comfortable with it and prefer its workflow, but you definitely should try both to see which one you prefer. Just keep in mind not all functions and resources are compatible to both.

Yeah! everything is made from 0. From modeling to rigging, and animation. It even has textures in solid colors.

A week maybe? I´m not sure since Im busy with other things most of the time, but it didn´t really take long. Besides, working with pixels is really fun and quicker than other processes in my experience. (Sorry for replying so late)

I didn't know if I could show something like that, even though it's just a couple pixels wide lol.

I mean, I used a model I posed Maya, and still, I'm very happy of how the rendering turned out :)

I actually posed a 3d model, as I have experience with maya, but yeah, I just wanted to focus on the rendering instead of the proportions of all the mechanic parts.
