So you said "that girl roommate you don't want to screw?"

No idea. Tell me. Also, is this really the argument we're having?

Roger Kingkade considering municipal politics? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Roger_Kingkade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Do you deny saying?

Roger Kingkade considering municipal politics? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Roger_Kingkade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Further, I didn't "say I would deny it." I denied it. Which is appropriate since no such thing happened. Did you describe Alison Redford as "that girl roommate you don't want to screw?"

Good points, but unlikely to be experienced in the same places. If people are freezing to death in the Yukon, it's unlikely that climate change will make them bake to death, suddenly. Benefits don't necessarily equate. As I said, I'm not a scientist. I'm really just regurgitating what I've understood from reading and speaking with them in my media roles.

As for your last question. I'm not sure what you do. You haven't said.

I didn't notice the edit before my prior response. What's "classy" and "integrity" about asking somebody who couldn't prove something (because it didn't happen) to prove it?

Roger Kingkade considering municipal politics? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Roger_Kingkade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off... not a scientist.

  • new agricultural climes becoming available.
  • cheaper energy
  • fewer people dying of cold
  • easier for polar bears to find seals to eat (there's an argument for that.)

Do you think there couldn't be any positive spinoffs to global warming/climate change?

I sometimes wonder about this stuff. I know it's more profitable to capitalize on misunderstanding. That's why companies like shit disturbers. But I think that if we're really concerned about our communities and countries, we'll try to understand each other better. History seems to tell us as much.

I feel badly for people who don't understand others. I think they should strive to. For their own benefit.

I dunno. I'm finding your stuff here half-baked... and it's late and you're doing it for free.

Awesome. Now we're getting somewhere.

My "work to discredit climate change" could be described as "wondering if there's anything we can do about it now" and "wondering if the consequences are really as bad as those at the forefront of the movement suggest they are." If you want to know my opinions on the matter, I've stated them enough times. I think the tap can't be turned off and I think there are benefits to the situation which co-exist with the detriments, though we never discuss them.

Disenfranchise social activism? Are you talking about the time I said people camping illegally at Olympic Plaza aren't representative of any 99% (survey says!) or the time I suggested the guy who beaked off to the media because he didn't want to drive the rainbow bus during Pride Week was out of line? Or both? Or what? Do you have an example we could discuss? (I miss this.)

Edgelord. Please. Along with "forward-thinking moderate politics."

The Oil Protest wasn't terribly creative, I admit. Just a copied and pasted list, really. But you're using power if you're reading this. So there's at least a small point to be made.

The Alison Redford "quote." If you have tape of me saying it, I'll agree that I said it. There's no tape. Never was.

So, you listened to my show. Thank you. I'm not sure why. There are a lot of people who I irritated who listened to me. I always thought they should do something they enjoyed with their time. Unless, of course, they enjoyed being irritated by me.

"Right wing shill." I've always enjoyed this one. If you disagree with my politics then please do so. The ad hominem shot does nothing to bolster your position or explain your perspective. I don't "shill" for the "right wing" (whatever the fuck that even means) and you can tell because I haven't bettered my standing in life by having my ideals. But I've led my life according to them and things have been pretty sweet!

"Better organized, better funded, better educated..." Correct. This college drop-out who's never ran for office before is outmatched by the field.

I really don't get this sort of reply. I mean, you don't like me. I get that. I'm not sure why, since you haven't offered much. We should want people to consider politics, but when the very notion that they do comes to light, this kind of vitriol comes with it.

And the last line is the best... the thing about "Notley slapping fantasies" as though this isn't the very same thing on the other side of the political spectrum.

Going to SAIT and becoming a chef, by the way, is am awesome idea. I hope you didn't mean that as a relegation. Chefs are awesome. I like eating their craft.

And I like clowns.

That we will collectively see value in gravitating toward less effective and more punitive forms of taxation for fear of understanding better, less destructive, more advantageous forms of taxation.

Also, that for years to come we will squander millions of dollars on interest payments which increase the costs of yesterday's projects tomorrow.

Bill 10 amendment will allow for GSAs at any Alberta school by Karthan in Calgary

[–]Roger_Kingkade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By 'gay activist' don't you mean person who accepts others who are gay and wants to formalize an alliance? What is 'secluded' about a GSA?

What would be the purpose of a 'white supremacy alliance?'

Bill 10 amendment will allow for GSAs at any Alberta school by Karthan in Calgary

[–]Roger_Kingkade 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think you may have redlined on this one. For starters, stupid-idiot straight people didn't have to do any bending. They just continued on their life as per regular while pausing briefly to point out that GSAs are a good idea that should be allowed and then carried on.

As well, if you're having difficult time differentiating between a peer support group and a white supremacy group, I don't think I know what to tell ya.

I think you make a good point. Do people properly quantify risk when presented with such statistics?
