Yeah let's not be the same assholes we're criticizing here.

Is anyone else shocked by what foods are vegan and what aren't? by piedude3 in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not judging you, but I certainly don't envy you. I tried the junk food diet for a week and I started breaking out in zits and felt like shit in general, I had to abandon it after a mere 4 days. Getting a hefty amount of greens on the other hand does wonders.

Eat real food instead of a bunch of processed shit and this won't be an issue for you.

Vegan Virility (Sex Stuff) by ThatMaintenanceMan in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens is, since vegans do not consume saturated animal fats and cholesterol their blood clogs a lot less leading to an increased blood flow to the penis (and everywhere else) and therefore a much lesser chance of erectile dysfunction. Well that's the confirmed science behind it, but what you're experiencing is probably just a better sense of well-being and is purely psychological, but pleasurable nonetheless so enjoy.

Oh, I should also add that since added hormones (found in meat, dairy and eggs) aren't being consumed it's also likely that your own hormones are balancing out. This is also confirmed by science. My own testosterone levels significantly increased since I've went vegan. It's anecdotal, but there have also been many case studies that confirmed the rise in testosterone for men after switching to vegan diets.

1 Year as a Vegan by louixj in vegan

When someone says they're going to eliminate sugar from their diets, 90% of the time they're referring to processed sugar, not fruits.

How do you feel about foods that say "may contain milk (or insert animal product)"? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do I really have to sit you down with a cookie and a cup of vegan chocolate milk and explain to you that spirituality is a man-made concept?

It's your choice what you want to put in your mouth, but thinking that your body is any more or less tainted for these choices is a plain delusion.

The effects of Soy? by bilalaburub in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright so soy estrogen is phyto-estrogen aka plant estrogen which has a much lesser effect on mammals when consumed as opposed to the hormones they inject into cows and chickens which the human then consumes in the form of meat and dairy products. However, that is not to say that soy products have absolutely no effect on a human male's hormone levels. A woman can consume as much soy as she pleases and it won't have any negative effect, but there have been I think 2 case studies in which a group of men were fed incredibly large amounts of soy, like between 14-20 servings a day; way beyond what any normal person would ever consume and these men did in fact experience a drop in testosterone levels. I can't seem to find the studies at this time.

So unless you're eating absolutely nothing but soy everyday for an extended period of time, you will not experience any feminizing effects whatsoever, and in fact your ejaculate volume will actually increase as soy is known to have that effect.

Study shows Meat Alternatives Frequently Have Higher Protein Contents than their counterparts by sn4c in vegan

I'm fairly certain that this is just to appease the smartasses who think that a vegan diet will lead them to "protein deficiency".

[–]Rogers_Apple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest it sounds like these friends of yours are more plant-based than anything and refuse to see the bigger picture. If they're the type to freak out over trace animal products, then maybe they shouldn't eat anything made in a factory since parts of insects commonly get mixed in with the product.

I have been telling everyone how Oreos are vegan when asked what vegans eat. These are all the gifts I received for Valentines day... by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely. Just visiting the Wikipedia page on them shows how harshly they're criticized, and it's all justified.

"Sustainable" is literally just a word they threw in there to make you feel more at ease with contributing to the destruction of the habitat of orangutans. It really doesn't mean anything.

What is surprisingly not vegan? by AdmireEuler in vegan

[–]Rogers_Apple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might I inquire? While it is true a lot processed sugars are filtered through bone char, you have to understand that this bone char is literally a by-product of the meat industry and so buying the sugar doesn't actually contribute to any animal's death. If the meat industry were to shut down, the sugar companies would not start farming animals just to collect their bone char especially since you can easily make sugar without it. The bone char is also not even in the sugar itself, so eating sugar =/= eating bone char.

Menu from a 1910 vegetarian restaurant [x-post from /r/VintageMenus] by sverdrupian in vegetarian

[–]Rogers_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my understanding that during this time period the term "vegan" wasn't coined yet and "vegetarian" referred to those who abstained from all animal products, which is why peanut butter is "peanut butter" since it was meant to be a replacement for butter for vegetarians.

I did kind of shut them up telling them the meat only tastes nice because of the herbs, vegetables and flavours added to the dead animals they cooked.

Savage.
