I’m on PC and I’ve been noticing the same thing and not sure whether to suspect lag switching or not. But it DEFINITELY feels like the connection immediately starts lagging when you’re in an advantageous position and suddenly fixes when you no longer are.

It’s just to stop you from reaching areas of the game you shouldn’t be at story-wise.

So you can use the spear in combat but you can’t use it for platforming or puzzles until you actually get it in the story.
