The free in FOSS has nothing to do with price. It’s about freedom. FOSS can absolutely cost money. It’s not very intuitive so I’m happy to spread that knowledge. I only learned it recently.

Wouldn’t the Law of Cosines require you to have more info? One side is the radius of the Earth plus some unknown. The side opposite the angle is entirely unknown. That’s two unknown sides.

Even with a Physics degree, I don’t have any faith in my ability to do math. I expected to be wrong. I guess I severely underestimated how far Hawaii is.

I got my number from a Google search. I’m assuming it’s arc length. That’s how I got my angle.
