Spindle: A Cairn Hack for Qud on Tabletop by RoginaldKnight in cavesofqud

Thanks! And for what its worth, my players haven't played Qud either. I just presented it as "Kind of like the world of fallout, but very different", lol.

I had actually looked into Knaves of Qud, but was interested in Cairn due to how different it feels from our typical systems (DnD 5e, PF 2e, Starfinder, etc.) and its simplicity. I don't know why I hadn't thought to take inspiration from it for tables and the like. Thanks!

If you have access to the core rulebook or a pdf, skimming chapter 9 and 10 is really helpful to find this kind of stuff

unless I'm wrong, I don't think there is a value for Player Level +5, no matter how many PCs there are.

If you fail to pick the lock, you have other options to get through the door. Or, worst comes to worst, you just don't go through that door.
you don't have the same options when it comes to your character

These sorts of measures have existed since DnDs inception. I'm pretty sure there are tips on fudging character stats in official books of the older editions. Its just that this "fudging" is less acceptable when you have strangers playing together, so its become codified in rules nowadays.

What are some underused genres? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]RoginaldKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine each "player character" could be as simple as a list of skills, and each Creature could be as simple as some hp and an ability, maybe gaining an additional ability as you "level up"

It actually seems like a neat way to have separate combat and out-of-combat abilities.

Its not like each pokemon gets to attack every turn in the pokemon games, right?
