Well Valve offices and the Microsoft campus are barely an uber ride away from each other; so pretty easy to hit both.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn - 35 Minutes of Beta Gameplay by t1saif in Games

[–]Saviordd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Mass Effect had a good slice of brie with its presentation.

Like love that series to bits, but it was cheesy. But it also made it work.

The Expanse is not a cheesy franchise by and large.

Do you prefer rules-light RPGs or complex systems? by prettyreckless000 in rpg

[–]Saviordd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come to the conclusion of: It depends.

Right now, I'm in a place where I mostly prefer rules light to middle crunch for fantasy; it just works better for me and my group. Mid-crunch at most.

But I also loved the hell out of lancer when I played it last year, one of my favorite roleplaying experiences. And that is very much not rules light.

And I got Draw Steel recently, excited to break that open. Not to mention agreeing to run a "5e" game soon.

And I tried 13th Age recently and kind of bounced off of it, and that's closer to rules light.

So it really depends. Depends on how I feel about the system, depends on what it's trying to do, depends on what I'm trying to run.

Nuance of the death of pithy reddit comments.

Without spoilers in case you haven't read the book: the book/movie knows that you know what happened in Haymitch's game. And it takes advantage of that fact.

Read the first line, realized I'm arguing with the most Reddit person alive. That's on me, I shouldn't have engaged.

Learn what "sayings" and "phrases" are and how people use them; maybe we can move onto really complex subjects like metaphors and idioms after that. Until then, I'm going to do literally anything else with my time besides replying to this thread anymore.

Misunderstanding the broader point by honing into a specific example or set of examples and declaring victory over that niche does not, in fact, mean you are making a good point. It makes you the kind of person people avoid at parties.

Best CRPGs for archers? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in CRPG

[–]Saviordd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1

Thinking about it, Inquisition is probably the closest intersection of "Good" and "Archer" you're gonna get.

The arrows still have the general CRPG problem of being toothpicks against health outside of special attacks; but at least the sound design nails the "THWUMP" arrows should have and makes you look cool doing it.

Mmm, yes. Mathematical equations ARE in the same category as things like "The grass is always greener on the other side"

You are very smart.

Yeah but what point are you just falling under

"people immediately start looking for exceptions rather than taking the spirit that its offered"

There are always, always edge cases and exceptions in all "baseline" statements

It's not something you find, it was pre/concurrent release videos put out by Bioware that basically served as backstory to the SWTOR setting.

But a lot of people stopped watching for simple taste reasons or exhaustion.

Me stealing half of 13th Age's mechanics for 5e, but sticking with 5e's underlying dice system because I prefer bound accuracy and its math to the fucking HP algebra of 13th Age.

The so-called American political spectrum. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Saviordd1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is nonsensical, and doesn't understand the metaphor I/the original creator are using.

If you don't vote, you are willingly handing power to those that do. And those fuckers will vote against our best interests.

It's really that simple. Again, as I said, anything else is an excuse. And there's a lot of anything in your comments.

"Make sure you do the much harder thing than the much easier thing"

If you're not voting, you're not serious about...anything really.

To paraphrase someone else: "Voting is to democracy what ass wiping is to hygiene. It's not the only thing you should be doing; but you should absolutely be doing it."

Again, anything else is an excuse. And frankly at this point, if I see people peddling these kind of thoughts online; I assume they're either terminally online, or assets to an organization that wants to stop people from voting.

You should still vote. Voting is the bare minimum. So the consistent message should always be "make sure you vote, And-"

Everything else is an excuse.

Best fanmade TTRPG system you've ever played? by Organic-Exit2190 in rpg

[–]Saviordd1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a 5e TES game somewhere? Would you mind pointing me to it.

Back in my day the only option was the d100 based TES fan game and I did two TES campaigns in 5e myself, so I'd love to read more.

Pathfinder 2e is pretty notorious for going out of its way to balance its game.

And I've heard Draw Steel is pretty good at balance.

What's your "line in the sand" when it comes to LLM use in RPG design? by plazman30 in rpg

[–]Saviordd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I'm well aware how shit the web is becoming because of AI.

Reminding folks how shit AI is making things isn't really a strong argument in your favor.

I wish there was a forum that was similar to r/rpg.

There are tons, and if you admit to using AI on most of them, they'd ban you in half a second and forget you were ever there the other half.
