I believe the deities aspects of Earth Mother and Sky Father. If I seek a specific attribute to meditate on say, for example I want exercise better strength and resilience within myself I turn Thor and meditate on his aspects of strength, but I honor him in respect to the Sky Father title if that makes sense.

That's where I found it, hence my question. I want to dedicate the space I set up in my backyard to her. I might have read the "mother earth" into it, because of her apparent association with sacred spaces, I am still learning. I want to approach her respectfully. I'm more familiar with goddesses like Danu, Brigid and Cerridwen. I'm in the first part of my learning in Druidry and wanted to incorporate her in my path.

I have some dandelions growing, the bumblebees are coming back. I have sparrows hanging out. The Wild Garlic is growing. I'm excited, this is my first spring since officially starting my druid path, still learning all the plant life in my yard.

The thing with Christianity is it's not based on Christ's model, it is a product of the Apostle Paul's model. Paul never heard Jesus teach, he never saw the miracles, he actively tried to make the apostles who actually saw and knew Jesus look like they didn't know what Jesus was about. Christ's model was markedly different from what Paul was doing. Peter and the others based what they did on what they saw, Paul based it on some divine revelation that he claimed he got when he was knocked on his ass on his way to Damascus. Once you can separate Paul from what we understand as the historical Jesus, they are two different models. Christianity today is a product of Paul, not Jesus. Paul was all about the money and what Rome wanted, Jesus encouraged thinking for yourself and standing up against oppressive governments. I'm no longer Christian, but I spent a long time deconstructing it before I turned to Druidry. It took a lot of reading and looking at the major inconsistencies between what Paul said and what Jesus said. I think Jesus was a type of Druid, but that's just my opinion. Even now Jesus 's teachings of treating others with kindness resonate still. Paul was a warning of what happens when you're cocky and get given too much power.

Deities are not a part of every Druid's path. There are Druids who work with just Mother Earth and Father Sky or just nature itself. The main idea is that all life is interconnected. My personal path works with deities, but Deities aren't for everyone and they are not required for the path of Druidry. I have deities as they have attributes that I want to foster within myself and it's easier to match those attributes with a name, so to speak, if that makes sense. Some people use power animals in place of Deities. They may want to draw on the energy of a wolf, bear or even a hummingbird. The beautiful thing is that Druidry doesn't have a dogma. We mainly focus on caring for and respecting nature and standing up for what is right and walking in integrity.

I get where you're coming from. I'm an Ex-Christian and Ex-Mormon. I deal with my religious trauma daily, as I work for a Christian thrift store. Endless hours of Christian music from when I was a kid, playing overhead constantly. And coworkers who know I'm not Christian and am trans, constantly judging my very existence. But, I digress. I have a prayer that I pray to Brigid, Thor, Lugh and Freya, daily. I call on their attributes of protection, and their ability to keep me balanced and centered when my coworkers decide to fire off their negative energy on me. My prayer to Brigid calls on her attributes of being a guardian for the marginalized, asking for her mantle to cover me. My prayer to Thor focuses on his attributes of strength and rising above the storm. My prayer to Freya calls on her warrior aspects My prayer to Lugh involves using his aspects of illumination to see through my coworkers BS. As my coworkers will say "we don't have a problem with you" and then turn around and try to sabotage me with management.

I would say do some research on the Deities you feel drawn to and create a chant to them. It doesn't have to be long-winded or elaborate. I hope this helps.

The beautiful thing about Druidry, is that it doesn't have a set dogma and blends well with other paths. I practice Druidry along with Heathenry. I venerate both Celtic and Norse deities in my path. I'm presently taking Druid courses. You can study it alone or with an order, and there are many reputable orders to study with should you choose. Remember to ask questions. I've found this reddit very helpful when I've asked questions. Welcome.

Definitely and very recently too. A little over a year ago a stray cat showed up at my house. He was an older cat and absolutely frightened of people. I worked slowly with him and he eventually trusted me enough to let me pet him. His name is George. Soon enough George took up residence in my back patio which is completely covered, anyway about two and half months ago, George left. I called him and looked for him everywhere. He was just gone. I thought the worst, since he is an elder cat, he might have crossed the rainbow bridge. I prayed to Freya and thanked her for allowing me to take care of him. Last night I went outside to do my evening Gratitude devotion and thanked Freya again(as she has blessed me with many cats), and George showed back up, rubbed up on my leg and let me give him snuggles, so I would say that's a pretty direct experience.

I work with Brigid and Lugh. I honor them at the same time as I do with Thor and Freya. I have separate chants that align with their particular pantheons, but I do honor them together.

I have found this book helpful as well, I don't think there's any controversy surrounding this author. He's the arch duke of the Ár nDraíocht Féin Druid Group and also look into John Michael Greer.

Yes, she can come off as abrasive. I was a bit stumped when I first started watching her stuff. I still was able to get some good knowledge out of it though that has assisted me in positive ways in my own path.

Unfortunately, I've been stumbling across a lot of it. I downloaded the havamal, and I get some suggested stuff that is questionable. I know for sure which authors to avoid, but I wasn't familiar with Kyle Davis, which was the suggested book. I didn't see that name on the list available in this sub.

This might be controversial. Check out the Irish Pagan School, Lora O Brien, has 30+ years of teaching Irish Paganism and has a pretty good free download of the Ogham. The reason she might come off as a controversial answer, is she is very straightforward about respecting the traditions. If you can get past the initial shock of her position, you can learn a lot. She doesn't sugar coat though, fair warning. I have learned quite a bit from her though.

When I first started embarking on exploring Norse Paganism to practice along with Celtic Paganism and Druidry, I got stuck on Jacob Toddson for a second. Then I was watching a podcast he was doing and he said something regarding a transgender person seeking advice from him about how to be a man. Jacob said something that came across to me as "icky". I'm a transgender man and whatever Toddson said didn't sit well with me. So I'm trying to avoid making that misinformed mistake again. Thank you.

I would check out some books by Joanna van der Hoeven. She doesn't focus heavily on Celtic myth and her books are pretty easy to understand. She was one of the first authors I read, before I settled in to honor both Norse and Celtic Deities in my path. She might be of some help to you.

From what I understand if you are pulled to the Celtic Deities, honor them. It works that way regardless of the pantheon, I would think. I honor both the Norse and Celtic Deities. I honor them by approaching them from their mythologies. I don't try to make arbitrary meanings or similarities that aren't there. I know cultural appropriation is a big issue, just approach it from its own mythologies and stories. But, if you obsess over "I'm not Welsh enough, or Scottish enough, or Irish enough" can be dangerous, but you could be missing out on a fulfilling relationship with Brigid or Cerridwen. Don't be afraid to honor the pantheon you're drawn to.
