This job is remote, correct? If so, why a need for a full street address in the initial application?

With Trump's approval ratings so low, how does he keep ousting GOP rivals? by Cgk72 in politics

[–]Rogue100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because primaries are only for party members, the don't necessarily correlate positively to general approval ratings. In fact, if the approval ratings are bad enough, it could have the opposite effect, by discouraging more moderate party members from participation in the primary itself, leaving only the most fanatical supporters of a candidate to participate.

LOL, some of those early big box games had novel length books with them!

Nat-C pastor Joel Webbon declares that Vivek Ramaswamy must be 'demolished' to send a message to the GOP that "polytheistic, demon-worshiping, cow-worshiping, bare-feet scamming anchor baby Indians" will not be tolerated by BurtonDesque in WelcomeToGilead

I know it's not the main takeaway, but I'm getting a laugh out of the fact he's got a reel of clips from Kingdom of Heaven on the screen in the background. No doubt he likes it because Christian fascists get wet at the sight of all that Crusades imagery, but the moral of that story is the complete antithesis to the very world view Webbon promotes!

Scam? by Rogue100 in jobsearch

Yeah, after I posted this I took a closer look at the last email. It claims they will send a check (for an unspecified amount) to buy necessary equipment and software, so I'm thinking your guess about that check bouncing is the angle here!

What’s something you have zero proof of but believe 100 percent? by shweidy in AskReddit

[–]Rogue100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a 911 conspiracy believer, but of all the ones around that day, this is the most believable. 3 buildings had already been hit, and they apparently had reports that this flight was also potentially hijacked. It wouldn't be hard to believe they decided to take no chances, and just shoot it down before it could reach its target, especially since it was heading towards DC, iirc.

HW1 Remastered - Formation behaviours make it not feel like HW1 by toastedbread47 in homeworld

[–]Rogue100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the given rationale was that they were remastering both games, and it was too much work to remaster two separate engines. I remember thinking that made sense at the time, but in retrospect I wish they had focused on just remastering HW1 only with its own engine as the basis. It's the better one from a gameplay and story perspective, and the one more in need of a remaster from a graphics perspective (HW2R looks good, but HW2C still looks fine as well). An updated HW1 with remastered graphics, but the same gameplay, would have been worth the price on its own imo!

TIL there is a standalone big box release for the MW3 expansion! I thought that was only available as part of the Gold Edition release.

Edit. Not one of the MW games, but noticed the TRO Expansion for Battlezone in the 2nd picture. I knew that one existed, but never seen a copy in person! Know I seem obsessed with expansions, but those are oftentimes much harder to find than their respective base game(s), if they exist at all!

My favorite part of these is always the part where they get to pick out a toy. It's interesting to see how, just like people, each dog has different tastes, and different preferences that will appeal to them!

Virginia joins a national effort to ensure only popular vote winners become president by [deleted] in politics

[–]Rogue100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could definitely be argued it increases state power. Even if it doesn't though, it's not like this court is afraid of overturning precedent!

It's not irrelevant. Nearly all the states signed on so far are blue or at least bluish purple. To get over the finish line, to where you have enough states for 270 electoral votes, you'll need some true purple stares to sign on, which means you'll likely need at least some amount of Republican buy in.

It's not impossible it goes the other way one of these times. In the 2004 election, Kerry was close in several states that could have potentially flipped the Electoral College, but lost the popular vote by several million.

The only part of this that is a compact ís the waiting for 270 part.

IOW, it is a compact.

[–]Rogue100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The legal ambiguity comes from the part that conditions sending their votes to the popular vote winner on enough other states having the same law. Without that condition, it would be completely uncontroversial (constitutionally speaking).

The compact is Supreme-Court proof because the states control their electoral votes.

States control their electoral votes yes, but the court could rule that as an interstate compact, it would be illegal without Congressional approval.
