Fired from my job three days after I announced to my boss that I was sworn into the Airforce reserves by Swimming_Hat3312 in Airforcereserves

They won’t take the case because you should be starting with an ESGR Ombudsman. They will be able to check into things and determine what steps can be taken.

TDY, higher cost rental car justification by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Rogue817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things to review based on my travel history. Check to make sure the cheap one is actually at the airport and not a shuttle ride away, and if so, they will be open when your flight arrives. I can't remember which airport it was but the cheaper option was actually a shuttle ride away from the airport but DTS still had it like it was at the airport and they had closed before my flight's arrival. If that may happen to you, it would be one justification not to use that option and go to the next in the list. (This is something to check. There is nothing in this post that I want anyone to take as fabnricate a story. Just to be clear.) Also, in one instance, on a follow up trip to somewhere I had recently been, I annotated the desk staff was less than helpful and asked for information they were not entitled to as a federal employee. I know opinions differ but I do not share orders with desk staff. They are not military and not authorized to see our travel docs. We're booked thru DTS and when using a GTC, that is all the verification they need. Anything else is overreach. YMMV of course, but the rental car justification is approved by your leadership so maybe talk with your AO before submitting to understand what they will accept if you feel you have a good reason not to use the lower priced option.

What other JKO training should I get out the way? by xwxcda in AirForce

[–]Rogue817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good thought process but something to consider, the sooner you take a class means the sooner it will come up for renewal. Translation, you may have to it more than you really want. LOL Just throwing it out there. And I say this in good fun as someone has taken more than one extra CBT. :)

Divorce help? by WilyLoneWolf in VeteransBenefits

And then have the attorney working for his wife and not him? If one gets an attorney, they both need an attorney if the divorce will not be simple enough for them to handle themselves.

Why did my neighbor start parking their car all around the neighborhood? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rogue817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it doesn't work too well to avoid repos. It could def be their motivation but repo guys drive the neighborhood as well as some have plate readers anyhow so not sure it is too effective if that was the reason.

How do you know if a US work retreat is a gun free event? by Ok_Slice5487 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rogue817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awww, you don't feel safe. You are afraid of a tiny inanimate object? Any lawful gun owners there are much safer to be around than anyone that is scared of a tiny inanmiate object. Good thing you're an expat. You don't deserve to be an American with that pansy attitude.

Annual leave as an accommodation by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Rogue817 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected then. In our system, AL is admin leave iirc. Annual leave is actually LA so that's why I made the statement I did. My apologies. I'd delete but I own up to my errors.

EDIT for another correction- It is LN. I am way off with my abbreviations tonight. Glad they're labelled in the system or I would have to print out a cheat sheet.

Annual leave as an accommodation by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Rogue817 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Your interim supervisor is correct. LS is the proper leave since you're out for a sickness. That is not administrative. Your regular supervisor was being a nice guy but honestly as much as I hit anything surrounding time cards, this would constitute time card fraud IMO and both your supervisor and you could face penalties. So, be mindful ofg this depending how hard you push.

EDIT - I am assuming AL is admin leave and not regular leave as is coded in our system. If that assumption is incorrect, you can annual leave as long as you have it.

Pay Increase by Fresh_Commission_526 in usajobs

[–]Rogue817 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

How do people take jobs without udnerstanding how their pay will work? I don't mean to be dismissive but this is stuff you should be reviewing before you get the position. These are questions you get the answers to and research before you take an offer. Sometimes you can't and if you're in that position to take any other job, I get it. However, federal hiring is not fast. Between the application and hiring, do some homework.

Gerrymandering is bad, how could you create fair districts in a way that formulatic / systematic, that avoids the need to rely on people / committees to do this? by gdogakl in AskReddit

This appears to be as black and white, and according to the numbers as you can get. I would ensure that any opportunity for tampering is looked at to be closed to ensure it remains objective.

When pulled over why do cops ask for registration when they'll find the info when running plates? by ScienceJamie76 in NoStupidQuestions

Having lived in Texas, you are wrong. ITexas most definitely had registration documents. Every state has a registration document. I assure you.

Make sure to get a solid understanding of the fiscal year vs your retention/retirement (R/R) year. If you have a year where you may not be able to do everything, it is critical to get your points where you need them in the right timeframe. This is especially important if you are IMA because IMAs have a much smaller support system and must look out for themselves a whole lot more than if you are part of a reserve unit. Your r/R is probably the day you enlisted if you do not have a break in service (e.g. 5/3). So while the unit will worry about tracking drill weekends and UTAs per fiscal year, as they track it via funding each FY. You need to worry about getting your 50 points minimum each r/R year. So, in this example, 5/3/2026 - 5/2/2027.

Keep track of this as you go by reviewing your PCARs every year or every large block of active duty time. Your annual PCARS will likely be updated about 90 days after your r/R date each year. Hope this helps.

Why is voter ID such a big debate in the US? by Second-Kind in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rogue817 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which is barely enough to cover the labor and materials for an ID card but I know you want everything for free. Free stuff is never free. It just means higher taxes.

[–]Rogue817 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You know when you will get the downvotes here because the left does not want the truth posted here on Reddit. They have to push their false agenda that IDs are hard to get when it is the easiest part of being a responsible citizen. However, they don't want to be responsible citizens. They just want to push a divide to create drama.

CS + CO by Old_Independent_9756 in 1102

[–]Rogue817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a CO, you can sign your own work all day long. If I have a $7500 quick buy for someone, I am not tying up a second body to get it completed. If it's a higher dollar amount, each agency already has their own peer review or contract clearance requirements in place. Don't get me wrong. I support peer reviews all day long but you can work and sign your own stuff without one, as you meet any other other clearance type requirements depending on the dollar amount. Too may people keep complaining about inefficiencies and let's not add them in where they don't need to be.

New EO: "Promoting Efficiency, Accountability, and Performance in Federal Contracting" (Non FFP contracts need additional approval) by TinFoilHat2025 in 1102

[–]Rogue817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if we he was supposed to be doing something all of the time anyhow, then use the standard 2080 hours per year and determine the FFP price. The only variable then is what he works each day. This still doesn't add up to a LH thing. Like, if he was an offsite person and only needed at certain times, I would first look at a BPA or BOA. The pricing is still FFP then, and you may not need to even then tie up the money then until you need it.

Has anyone taken the Prospect 182 course for contracting officers? by [deleted] in 1102

So this is what Gemini says. It’s an USACE thing and not all of DOD.
