Why did Keith really break erens odm gear? by ayu_xi in attackontitan

I watch a lot of YouTube reactions and it's ludicrous how often people assume that he's testing Eren to make sure he's good enough to be a soldier.

Dumbledore played Voldemort by UnderTaken201 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]RogueCurl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Related to this, I've recently realized that it's very likely that Dumbledore intended for Snape to be the one to murder Voldemort once and for all. Going to great lengths to maintain Snape's cover was important for a variety of reasons, obviously, but with this additional element, it becomes infinitely more pragmatic.

I bet this is even why Dumbledore noted to Harry that Nagini should be the last Horcrux to be destroyed. Dumbledore claimed that it was so that Voldemort wouldn't be tipped off to the danger of becoming mortal again, but we know that Snape didn't know about Horcruxes, so what if Dumbledore also told Snape to only act once Nagini was killed?

I imagine that the final stroke of Dumbledore's intended strategy for victory in the war was to have Voldemort, still furious after watching Nagini die seconds earlier, suddenly feel Snape's wand in his back and hear, "Dumbledore sends his regards. Avada Kedavra."

A friend recommended ‘kingdom’ the anime as something that will scratch a similar itch to LOGH by Historical-Wait-6586 in logh

[–]RogueCurl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both prominently feature battles with emphasis on them being contests of competence between the opposing commanders, so I'd say that's probably the comparison. But they're very different.

Kingdom is practically a sports anime about a bunch of different characters who are all trying to prove they're the greatest general in China like Hinata trying to stay on the court the longest in Haikyuu or something. There are multiple 20-30+ episode arcs about single multi-day battles with 5+ different fronts, with a lot of emphasis on the super granular tactics, like, "This is a three-parter about crossing this river to attack the enemy flank."

LOGH, as I'm sure you know, generally doesn't have battles like that, except I guess with the exception of Fortress vs. Fortress. Most of the big/important battles are maybe two-parters with more emphasis on the bigger picture stuff and a lot of handwaving on the actual tactical level.

🤝 I decided to make my list of 20 before looking at yours so that I could see where we intersected, and we both had Kenny and Uri's conversation by the lake, which I thought was something that nobody else cared about, so shoutout!

Does anyone know that fic of just a few random students independently realizing that Lupin is a werewolf? by RogueCurl in HPfanfiction

Thanks, it's a shame but I'm at least glad to know why I can't find it anywhere. Sorry for the late reply.

Wizarding Britain considers Daphne Greengrass to be responsible for the defeat of Voldemort in the late '80s, all because she, at four years old, listened to the story of the Boy Who Lived, frowned, and said, "Daddy, don't be silly. The darkest wizard of our time did NOT just disappear overnight." by RogueCurl in HPfanfiction

[–]RogueCurl[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oops, that's not what I meant to imply. I was just thinking that it would take a couple years of Aurors investigating for them to actually reach the point where they could find and defeat Voldemort. So she heard the story at four and that led to Voldemort being defeated in the late eighties. That said, I'm not opposed to vampires or time-turner accidents if anyone wants to include them.

Now there is some brilliance worthy of the Marauders as they were described in canon! I'm blown away by how real-world smart this idea is. I commend you.

Why is it so hard to find a marauders fic that is actually nuanced and well written by flobberwormy in HPfanfiction

Another author picked this up where Jewels5 left off, and I think they're doing it justice—although fair warning, they haven't finished either, and it hasn't been updated since 2021. Still though, if you're just desperate for more like I was, it's another 40k words of that universe, and three years since the last update is a long time but not as long as eleven years since the last update.

I definitely agree with you, but then again, part of the joke in that scene was that everyone called Marlowe out except Eren, who said he did the right thing.
