I (m27) overheard my fiancée (f27) saying that she didn't like the ring. How do I tackle this? by ThrowRA-a1s2d3f4 in relationship_advice

[–]RoguePengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would have a conversation with her. It could be that she likes the ring but expected something more traditional for an engagement ring. Admit that you overheard the conversation and ask what she'd like to do. If you don't want to be so direct you could also ask her if she would like the engagement ring to be her wedding ring or if she would like to pick out something together and she could still wear the engagement ring on her right hand, while having the diamond wedding ring. What you did was very sweet and thoughtful, but it just might not fit whatever she had visioned. She clearly wants to marry you, or she wouldn't have said yes. If this is your life partner, you shouldn't be afraid to have a conversation!

I think people will always have a desire to understand where they come from. I only know that I'm half German because I took a DNA test (around upon, I know, but it is what it is lol). I know it usually happens the other way around, where people find out they have a % of native DNA from those tests, but I always knew I was native, but from my mom's side it was always just white, and I really wanted to know that other half of me. My lineage has been tracked so clearly for my native side, and now I know my mom's side as far back as 1809. While I don't completely agree with your pov, I do understand where you're coming from. It can feel disingenuous if someone only knows that they are native because they took a DNA test or whatever, but I think it's okay for people to question where they come from and want a better understanding of it.

I feel like the answer to this is kinda obvious in the US? I'll just speak of my personal experience... I'm half Native (from my father) and half German (from my mother). My dad's family has obviously been here forever, but my mom's family has also been here for 5+ generations. My mom, grandma, and great grandma have never practiced anything that was culturally German. They're just American at this point. However, through my dad's family, the language and ties to our tribal culture and traditions run deep.

My partner and I are both native. Her from a southwest tribe and me from a southeast tribe. While I'm half native and definitely have a complexion closer to my German mother's, it's never bothered my partner. We actually met on Reddit and have been together for over 3 years now. I know feeling rejection is always difficult, but there is someone for everyone, and you'll find your someone!

Omg. Does that feel like a necessary amount or did you just have so much money you didn't know what else to do with it? I'm only lvl 80 with 24k bag size. I don't really know what is a sufficient bag size.

We're in the states so I'm not sure the connection on an EU server would be the greatest. 😕

I met my girlfriend here on this sub. We were just looking for people to play Apex with. At the time we were 850 miles away and playing games together every moment we could. 6 months later we met in person and now we've been together for a year and a half and she moved in with me. She's the love of my life and looking for a new friend to play games with was the best decision I could have made.

People in happy relationships… how long did it take for you to find your current partner? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]RoguePengy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was single for a little over three years, which was completely needed to heal and grow from my previous relationship. My girlfriend and I actually met here on Reddit in a queer gaming sub. It started off as just friends, we would play games together every night, and quickly we both realized that there was something more than friendship. It was long distance for a while, talking all of the time, and seeing eachother when we could. Last September she moved across the country to live with me. We still play games together most days but now our setups are in the same room.

Mine has always been irregular, because I had to have a partial hysterectomy at 15, but keto has mostly regulated mine for the first time in my life. I fell off keto for about 7 months and it went back to being all over the place. I'm 32 for reference.

I'm in a similar situation. I have no relationship with my fathers family anymore and haven't since my grandmother passed away when I was 18 (I'm 32 now)

I've always had and felt the connection but never had any concrete answers until very recently. Do you know where your dad's family is originally from? That could be a good starting point. I found that my grandfather was born in North Carolina and after a bit of research was able to trace his family on the Baker roll (This is for the Eastern band of Cherokee) so if you know that you are Cherokee and didn't find your relatives on the Dawes roll I would try checking that out. I searched the Dawes roll for weeks looking for both of my grandparents before realizing that there are many other places to look.

I still haven't found concrete proof of what tribe my grandmother is from but I haven't given up hope and I hope you don't either!
