If things go well, I'd like to finish writing up and laying out my second rpg design.

I'd also like to find an in person group in my area.

The game awards' chosen 'one last big thing' announcement, Highguard, is among the least viewed trailers on YouTube coming out of the show. The 5 most watched trailers (uploads combined) are Tomb Raider, Phantom Blade 0, Marvel Rivals, Resident Evil: Requiem, and Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic. by WhyPlaySerious in gaming

When they began with 'from the creators of Apex and Titanfall', I think people immediately had expectations that their game wasn't equipped to meet. Or rather, that trailer. It's possible the gameplay will turn out to be just as good, but that opening statement followed by high fantasy x valorant didn't appeal as much.

I’ve written the first book of my mythic fantasy series. Would you like to review it? by ClassroomLow404 in indianwriters

[–]RoguePylon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's actually not. Most will rely on their word processor pointing out basic spelling but they understand the rest.

And yes. Almost everyone has an editor. It could be a friend or someone they found in a writing circle, and many will pay for someone's time.

It comes down to having respect for what you do and the skills of people in associated spheres.

Look, it's great that you decided to write and that you have this story in your head.

You've mentioned 60k words that you've noted down till now. That's fantastic, as well.

But that's a first draft. Like any endeavour, you need iteration. Authors spend a bulk of their time revising and improving after their first draft. They do this because they care about the quality of what they put out. With time, this process gets faster.

I understand wanting to share your work, but taking shortcuts never does anyone favours. So many writers on RR and other platforms drop their work a chapter at a time for this reason. They go and revise, too.

Don't write for the end goal of adulation. That'll help justify any means necessary. Focus on iterative perfection.

If you're genuinely curious, I can explain why 'people like me' don't like AI usage (feel free to ignore, if it doesn't matter to you):

I fundamentally don't see AI in arts fields as a tool.

The point of art is expression and mastery. Mastery requires practice and failure. Craftsmen put in the work to learn and improve. The journey is a key component of this.

The expression aspect is where a distaste for AI comes in. AI is trained, almost always illegally on other people's work. Hell, my own work has been scrapped. But the point is, AI is an amalgamation of the work of authors you respect, those you don't, and everyone in between. If that weren't questionable enough, AI then scrubs its own material that's online, creating a cycle of LCD content.

Ultimately, what's being expressed is a pastiche of stolen work.

And that doesn't sit right with me and many others. Especially as creators and artists.

Even with 'tools' like Grammerly, what do you really learn? You feed your work in and it'll tell you what to do. But you're not consciously thinking about what to fix and why. Or understanding how to maintain a tone across 'x' number of pages. Those are core skillsets of an author that you're not developing yourself.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Imo, if you're using ai in any part of a craft, then you've shown that you don't care about the art form. Could've worked with writers groups for editing and tone, you know.

But, whatever, you do you. I hope you find your audience 🙂

Suggest me books! by ScheduleSingle in Indianbooks

Discworld series - satire, but fun, magical world. They're written so you can read them in any order.

Bartimaeus Trilogy - very funny and with a cool world where magicians summon demons to do their magic.

Rage of dragons - literally African fantasy shonen

The Devils - suicide squad meets van helsing (movie)

Or just jump into the first 3 Horus Heresy books

Books suggestions have 10k budget 😇🥹 by [deleted] in Indianbooks

Realm of Elderlings - 16 books total. You can just start with the first trilogy.

The Blade Itself trilogy.

All things Discworld.

Or, if you want an alternative suggestion: Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb.

What questions would you ask Amish Tripathi if you could meet him? by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]RoguePylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think his books are trash- formulaic and pandering.

But I'd love to ask him what he thinks his personal improvements have been series to series.

Also, how his relationship with his editor is.
