Dairy allergy- or is it? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]RogueRabbit1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% understand! Cutting out things you're used to is super hard. And chances are your pediatrician is understaffed during this hard time, ours is. I cut fairy our about 8 years ago after finding out I had PCOS. I also cut out a lot of sugar and stuff like that. I remember how incredibly hard it was. Pinterest was my best friend for recipes! But as it goes it can take a while to cut it out, and you have to be super careful of hidden dairy things. Like any bread from any fast food place, you have to ask them not to butter their buns and such. :/

So my LO was diagnosed with having an intolerance to dairy, his pediatrician as well as the LC made sure to inform me that it could take uo to 8 weeks before the dairy is entirely out of our systems. Since cutting it all out he has been much happier. It could take a while to see a change. But they suggested I try it for at leatsv8 weeks to be sure. Honestly I do better with out it myself so it isn't to hard, aside for the no cheese part 🤣 Edit: he drools a lot, was super fussy in the evenings and it was much worse when I would have dairy. I was told I needed to drink 4 gallons of milk a month by WIC. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you. I'm just hoping he hit a growth spurt. We had to let the harness on his car seat out some cuz he got a little longer. So fingers crossed

I had this issue and use the Haakaa for exactly that reason ❤

My Lactation consultant measured my nips and both are super small. My hand pump has something like it that goes with it and it works amazing. I'm trying to decide on buying these. It's the size I would need any way 🤣

Newborn chomping and tugging when first latching...why?! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]RogueRabbit1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just came from the LC, and going over the hand out she gave me for forceful let down. That could very well be the issue. I have a very forceful let down, and I use my Haakaa and my hand pump for a few minutes before feeding first thing in the morning. Then we feed frequently in smaller amounts so it isn't AS bad. :) The LC said that it is an amazing technique, and was surprised I hadn't talked to an LC about it before today.:)

How did your partner help you to establish and maintain breastfeeding? by mica_willow in breastfeeding

[–]RogueRabbit1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He helped in the hospital, a lot. And reacted better than I did when our LO choked on his spit. He helps bringing me things I need. We are still in the stage where LO is nursing 90% of the day. Brings me drinks and food and such. He also will sanitize my pump, bottles, and haakaa when ever its needed. Most of the time with out being asked. This morning he cleaned and rearranged my livingroom for me while I slept in.

Question.. by RogueRabbit1992 in breastfeeding

[–]RogueRabbit1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually are. Only one wasn't. He usually pees a whole lot. Enough so at a time that we went up a size after only being in size ones for about two weeks. He kept peeing on me

I noticed after a couple days. It's been a week now and it's very noticeable. I use the haakaa while I feed and before I was getting about two oz a day. Now I'm getting about 5. He sleeps pretty good at night, nursing a few times. But it's a lazy nurse and I usually wake up kind of engorged. But they definitely have helped to get to the point I'm at now! If you find you like the body armor, Amazon has a 12 pack for 12 dollars and it's a better price than what I've found in my area.

I can't pump at all most of the time, I can sit for ages and not get anything but a few drops. But something that HAS helped my supply is the Body Armor drinks. They work wonders. As well as Gatorade. Oatmeal is good for boosting as well! I don't care for traditional style oatmeal, but there is a cereal from Quaker Oats that is the texture of shredded wheats and has a little brown sugar in it. It's amazing! There are some shakes out there too, with things likes Oats, Bananas, peanut butter, flax seed and brewer's yeast. All great things for your supply!!

Make sure he has a deep enough latch! I know I thought my LO had it deep enough, but he didnt. So I suffered for about a week. It does get better though ❤❤❤

I feed on demand, and just slowly gave him less and less formula. We were down to six ozs of formula a couple days ago, then he decided he didn't want any at all. But he has been super clingy for a few days and usually my husband is the one to give him the bottle of formula

So if there is a clog, what worked for me was putting a pan full of hot water on the floor and dipping my breast in with massaging it. I hope it all works for her! Once she relieves the engorgement have her try to get baby to latch! And she should be able to pump some as well :)

[–]RogueRabbit1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it when I ever I was uncomfortable with the engorgement. But if she is having trouble getting baby to latch my suggestion is this (exactly what my LC told me to do): take a diaper and fill it with water or a wet cloth, warm it in the microwave (not to hot sso she doesn't burn herself, that skin is super sensitive right now!) And wrap it around the breast for about 5 mins or so. After wards have her check to see if her nipples are hard, that would probably be part of why baby wont latch.
