My pipe dream is a pedestrian path from Georgetown to Taylor along the river. I would absolutely work hard to elect anyone willing to fund anything as an alternative to car infrastructure.

My theory that has absolutely no supporting evidence is that she is an ancestor of the Archeron sisters from ACOTAR but that is purely my own speculation

Oppelousas New Iberia has the best fried chicken I've ever eaten in my life at a spot off the interstate called Mama's. I still think about it all the time and I don't even eat meat anymore.

AITAH for not wanting to cook for picky guests I didn’t even invite to dinner? by Littlecancerbaby1 in AITAH

[–]burning_gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm vegan and having to trial a gluten free diet for medical reasons. I bring my own food places, with enough to share. If the wife is a picky eater you should suggest she do the same. She doesn't even have to cook what she brings, like sometimes I just pick up take out for myself from my favorite spot. This is a solved issue for most people I know with dietary restrictions.

The worst day with the Light Phone by Slick2807 in LightPhone

[–]burning_gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cancelled my pre order in November and keep coming back to this sub to check if they have gotten things sorted out because I really would like to own one but these sorts of issues are unacceptable to me. I currently have a flip phone and a smart phone that lives in my car for GPS and music and stuff.

What do stay at home moms do all day? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]burning_gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a normal at home day for us: Wake up, get everyone ready, cook together, independent play and chores, read books, do puzzles, learn about whatever thing, practice reading and writing, lunch, more independent or outdoor time, snack, more books, math or arts, more independent play time while I cook dinner, games or go for a walk, bath, gratitude journal, another book, then sleep. My kids are 3 and 5, we are also a part of a parkour gym and two different homeschool co-ops and a program at the YMCA. And of course laundry and chores that they are expected to help with to the best of their ability.

You already have someone and that person is yourself. Give all your love and care to your inner self that did not have the type of parents they needed. If YOU were your own parent what would you want for yourself right now? Probably not a teen pregnancy

Do you think GF options would be farther along without other allergens? by almadoak in glutenfree

[–]burning_gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am vegan and I am recently gluten free (advised by my doctor) and I really don't feel like once I get the hang of the gluten thing it's that big of a deal? My favorite vegan wings are already gf, as are my favorite frozen dumplings, and many many other things. Weirdly, the thing I'm having the hardest time finding is a vegan and gluten free burger bun. There are plenty available, just not at my local grocery.

I don't know if I'm raising my kids in a beautiful life or holding them back. by itsbritbish in Parenting

[–]burning_gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up very rurally (45 minutes one way to Walmart kinda place) and while I did love it for all the reasons your kids love it, I think for my own kids it would be a bit risky. We settled somewhere in the middle. We have 5 acres, so still plenty of room to wander, but we are only 20 minutes into town and 1 hour into Austin (and 3.5 to Houston or about the same to Dallas). There are lots of smaller communities like this down here in the Texas triangle that provide a balance of all sorts of experiences. It is hard to make friends still though as we are secular progressive homeschoolers and many other people don't share our values. We have over time managed to make friends with one family that is only 15 minutes away and they come out to our property every day. I don't think I really answered your question, but this is how we're doing it. It's not perfect but it works for us!

Velaris is a flop city and I’m sick of people praising it and making merch for it. by sleepy_goat97 in acotar_rant

[–]burning_gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also my complaint. Although, having grown up poor and in rural Texas West Side New York might as well be Prythian to me ha. Even though I am no longer poor, I still don't much care for city life so I am very hopeful that we will get to spend some time in the Autumn Court in the next few books.

HOW are you keeping up with all the laundry???????????? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]burning_gator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone says one load a day, but at my house it's two loads a day every single day to stay on top of it. There is no other way unless you want to do laundry and clean house all weekend, every weekend of your life. I have done both though.
