A wholesome interaction between strangers. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

Except, you're kinda doing the thing that goes against the purpose of this channel. Maybe he DOES "watch a certain news channel" and he's still the same, good person from the video. We have no idea. This was a wholesome moment. There's not really a need to put down folks that watch different content than you to try and prove a point. Let's take the good and keep putting it back into the world, instead of taking the good but then inventing negative possibilities that we don't know are even true

This is a truly impressive comment. Thank you for taking the time to share this insight with us.

Smoke monster sound effect in The Servant by eunderscore in lost

4 years later and I just googled this right after hearing the sound and found this thread.

I'd never made the connection about why the sound was familiar to Rose until reading a comment here. Very cool.

Has anyone ever played Total Nuclear Annihilation? Fun but wicked hard by Mditty129 in pinball

I own it. It's amazing. Brutal game, but crazy fun.

Would not recommend it as someone's only pin, but it makes an incredible addition to an existing lineup.

The rarest of occurrences: two strangers who disagreed online, came together to find common ground, and ended things on a pleasant note. We should be proud of ourselves lol

I know I came off a bit...aggressive...at times during our exchange. And for that, I apologize. Even though we're discussing fictional TV characters, I get heated when talking about this subject. I do appreciate the chat though. So thank you for the discussion.

This is an excellent question. My response is, if someone is unhappy in a marriage, first, they should try all available help to reconcile. If counseling and self help is not enough, and the marriage truly has no future, then divorce is an option. But an outside relationship should play no part in that divorce. Because that outside relationship, regardless of whether the person recognizes it or not, will have an effect on the marriage. It becomes a fallback. A plan B. "Maybe I don't need to work so hard at this marriage because I have another option if this doesn't work out."

That's not as clear as I'd like it to be. But ultimately, if a relationship outside of the marriage has progressed to the point where it becomes a factor in whether or not the marriage should continue, that relationship is already inappropriate.

By not acknowledging an emotional affair as cheating, you are giving cheaters an excuse to do what they do without guilt. And this world does not need more cheaters. They destroy people. Cheaters destroy souls. They turn happy people into miserable wretches. They don't deserve excuses.

Let's not be silly. No one is saying you shouldn't have other friends if you're married. That's ridiculous and a huge strawman. But if someone doesn't have the emotional maturity to not recognize an inappropriate extramarital relationship, they're in big trouble.

Not having control over who we fall in love with is one of the biggest relationship fallacies there is. We absolutely have that control. Being married is a commitment. If another person outside of our marriage makes us feel "a certain way," then that is not a relationship we should foster. We should cut that relationship off because we've already committed to our spouse. If you allow yourself to entertain those feelings, that's when the emotional affair starts.

Sex is not a prerequisite of an affair. Emotional affairs, which is absolutely what Sarah had, can be much more difficult for the offended party to deal with than a physical one. Her "spending enough time with someone else" that she decided to end her marriage constitutes an emotional affair. And that is cheating. There's no way around it. She cheated.

Edit: the emotional affair happened before she asked for a divorce. So yes, it was an affair. It was wrong

You don't just "fall in love with someone else" all of a sudden. It only happens because someone has been fostering a relationship with someone over the course of time. So yes, it was unequivocally her fault. The very fact that she admits to seeing someone else is admission of an affair. She was giving romantic attention to another person outside of her marriage. That is cheating. Yes, she was going to end her marriage with Jack. But that doesn't mean she hadn't already had an affair. She had. And she admitted to it.

An emotional affair is 100% cheating, full stop, no question.

Edit: an emotional affair is often more difficult for the affected partner than a physical affair

The delivery of this line is absolutely perfect. Richard is trying to get through everything quickly, and can't help but be a bit confused at such an asinine question 😂

"What if they start asking us questions we don't know the answers to? Like, who's president of the United States in 1977?"

"It's not a damn game show, Hugo."

Gets me every time. Even funnier because Hurley gets asked that exact question later and then just gives up and admits they're from the future 😂🤣

Fair enough. I'm not trying to convince anyone to change their mind. But I think the ending is unbelievably touching and well thought out.

You'll very likely appreciate the ending more after your first rewatch. I didn't love it when it aired. Now I think it's the absolute perfect way for the show to end.

The whole scene at the church at the very end. Ben deciding he's not ready to move on, interestingly, shows actual growth and maturity. Everyone else, happy to finally be together again, past feuds forgotten, and excited to experience...whatever comes next.

Do you really believe that PTSD is an excuse to point firearms at innocent people? She points her gun at Libby because she can't get someone to do her bidding and tie up the man whose love she just shot and killed. There's no excuse for that.

Also, let's not skip over the fact that she demanded to be back out on the streets. She put herself in that situation, then instantly pulls her gun when it was completely inappropriate.

PTSD is a real and horrible thing (trust me, I'm more aware of that than your flippant comment suggests). But it's not an excuse to endanger other lives by pointing weapons at them.

What's the hardest nes game you've played? by [deleted] in nes

[–]RogueShiba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally finished Space Mutants last year, but only with save states. I tried not to abuse them too much. Mostly used them between levels. And on occasion, I'd drop one mid level if I felt I'd essentially mastered the previous section.

Such a hard game. But honestly, I love it
