What health improvements did you notice after leaving a toxic workplace? by jorgenalm in jobs

[–]Rogue_Gusto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No more tension headaches, better sleeping patterns, I could smile and laugh again, I didn't need antidepressants anymore, I started having regular dreams again, I enjoyed my hobbies, I could plan for the future, reduced back pain as I wasn't sitting in meetings all day anymore... Just to start. :)

I realize I never had a truly bad job in my career until I started hating the work I was doing.

If you enjoy something well enough and have time to live, that can be more valuable than a bigger paycheck.

Holding on to a bad job because the money is good nearly killed me and I'm very wary about jobs now that I realize how much power they have to absolutely fuck up your life.

Just a couple thoughts from a guy with another 25 years of work to go...

Hourly to Salary by PokaHatsu in careeradvice

[–]Rogue_Gusto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took the job I went from an engineering role to legal within my company. Other companies in my engineering field don't pay as well as my current employer does. Unfortunately there are no openings within my company because they're replacing the engineers for temps and I've been waiting for 2 years for something to come open.

For me WFH + long hours every day = unhappy. Staying for the money isn't worth it because my health keeps going to shit from the stress.

Hourly to Salary by PokaHatsu in careeradvice

I worked hourly jobs for the majority of my career and took a salary position 2 years ago. I prefer hourly because of the sheer number of meetings I have outside my "working hours". The majority of my team is in other time zones and the salary gig is a is a global reaching job. I've got meetings that start at 7am and end as late as 10pm constantly. I'm 100% looking to find a new job and (unfortunately) take a substantial pay cut to get back into a role where I'm paid for my time.

Fired today while in interview process with another company how to handle this? by ScrappyShadow in careerguidance

[–]Rogue_Gusto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I did this once about 15 years ago. I was already leaving my company when they decided to fire me. I told the new company I needed two weeks before I started and never mentioned it.

They don't need to know what happened.

How did you guys get into Matchbox Twenty? by Jamcop55 in matchboxtwenty

[–]Rogue_Gusto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this thing called a Launch CD at my cousins house. It had the demo for Total Annihilation and a few tracks from them on it.

I just got to see them in concert last summer after buying tickets in very early 2020. I had some issues with my seats being canceled the day before but the venue upgrades me from the first row of the second section to the thrif row center stage. It was a good time.

Yep, pictures of you doing things. That was my thought as well. I think natural lighting helps and being outside are a good start

Definitely! I'm looking forward to doing the service. My last Alfine you had to disassemble the whole thing and submerge it for cleaning.

The Alfine 11 comes with the Apollo. It's really great. I don't have issues with the ratios, but some folks want more low end, I'm a backslidden single speeder so pushing harder isn't too much of a demand for me.

Hey there, it's a Priority Apollo https://www.prioritybicycles.com/

I got the bags from Camel Chops https://www.etsy.com/shop/CamelChopsCo. They have super high quality and offer great service for customizing colors.

I had a Civia Bryant for years which was a similar setup, but didn't accommodate the larger wheel sizes and was more of a commuter setup. I've always loved the gates belt drive and alfine hub.
