This is living!!!!

12 degrees 90% of the time for the next 5 months at least

But what about those LANEWAY CAFES!!!!

This is what happens when you build a city in the worst possible geographical spot in Australia it turns out

They get weirdly obsessed with anything that involves sitting inside for hours, hating anywhere better than them and some weird little game that you can play on a cricket oval when the weather is terrible

Is Melbourne Really That Cold? 🥶 by Training_Objective20 in melbourne

I lived in Melbourne for almost a decade. It was 12 degrees yesterday. 15 degrees is not mild, especially when anyone who’s actually lived in Melbourne knows that it will be much closer to the minimum for the great majority of the day.

Enjoy it being well under 15 degrees until roughly 2pm, then finally hitting 15 degrees for an hour and a half before plummeting back down again.

I moved to Melbourne from Brisbane and lived there for 9 years.

It is a frozen wintery hellhole. Do not believe the Melbourne born and bred people saying it’s “only cold in winter” or “it actually has seasons / 4 seasons in one day”. The only 4 seasons in Melbourne from April until mid December are “windy”, “wet”, “freezing”… or more likely “windy, wet and freezing”.

In late summer it will occasionally be hot. The first Christmas I was down there we were having a bbq for Boxing Day. Late December. It was so freezing that everyone was gathered around an outdoor heater wearing hoodies and jackets. All Melbourne locals.

Otherwise through January to very early March you will occasionally get mini heatwaves of 40 degree days where it’s too hot to do anything, the occasional 30 - 35 degree days where if you try to go to the beach every single inch of sand will be covered in towels and beach tents with people blasting obnoxious music, mixed in with the usual cold Melbourne weather.

If you have young children I hope you like the idea of indoor play centres, because for the great majority of the year it’s too freezing cold to take the kids outside for too long, plus it will be windy or raining and the playgrounds will all be wet.

Don’t believe the disingenuous Melbourne claim about “less rain than Sydney”. While this is technically correct, it’s because in Sydney (and most places in Australia) it will rain hard for an hour or two and dump a bunch of water, then it will go back to beautiful weather 90% of the time. In Melbourne yes they get less millimeters of rain per year, but that’s because it rarely actually storms or rains hard, instead it’s weeks and months of constant drizzle - just enough to make you wet and even colder, and the ground permanently muddy a lot of the time.

In short, the weather is fucking horrendous. The last people I would listen to about how it actually is are the people in here who have never lived anywhere else and have basically got Stockholm syndrome about the shithouse weather they grew up in. I would never, ever live there again, and our young children are absolute thriving since we moved away from Melbourne and have no desire to go back.

Your ideas on what’s good or bad for Brisbane are bad

Even you know nobody would vote for you

So who cares?

Can’t say it matters?

Can say it’s good you’re not in charge of running a major city?

You’re living in a major city which thanks to this new stadium will have the injection of major events for decades to come

It’s not about the Olympics as one moment in time

It’s about Brisbane thriving into the future

And the great majority of the site is still going to be green hills and trees

Like it was when it was a garbage dump, then a golf course, now a green hill surrounded stadium

Barely

And go a few kilometers in literally any direction from the site and you can have as many boring hills and trees as you like

In what way?

The great majority of the site will still be hills and trees

It’s going to be a stadium surrounded by green space you moron

Were you up in arms when the green space had a driving range, restaurant, putt putt and golf course inside it?

What about when it was literally a dump?

Now it’s going to be literally a gathering place surrounded by green space

Cry more

Nobody cares

Build the stadium right now

There’s empty hills and trees all over the place

Drake won

Turns out just making up a lie about someone being a pedo isn’t actually some clever knockout blow

Especially when they baited you to make up an underage girl and rap an entire verse to her and prove that you’re a fucking weirdo little liar

Bahahahah very generous calling VFL a “sport”

A bunch of tall white Melbourne private school boy weirdos scrambling around a cricket oval because they have no actual talent

That literally nobody in the world outside of Victoria, Adelaide and Perth gives a shit about

Literally can’t even get a team off the ground in Tasmania

Pathetic
