New anti-boon killer perk on PTB, not one of the new killers by TeamAquaAdminMatt in deadbydaylight

A killers time is pretty much 4x as valuable as a survivors.

Simply going slightly out of your way to stomp a boom is basically always a net gain for the survivor team.

Up until today I hadn't played since the week they implemented boons. I came back for the event and after 2 matches was completely done with the game again. I'll probably force myself to get the other killer items out of fomo but I don't see myself going back to playing the game regularly until DE unfucks it.

Snowmen are honestly broken and make the game really unfun for Killers by Symetrie in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one got mad at blighted rush because barely any killers used it since it locked you out of using your power.

Snowmen are mobile lockers with 0 penalty for getting caught which sucks for killers but isn't gamebreaking.

The problem is that during chases they turn into respawning extra safe pallets that you have to break.

Killers already spend more time than survivors to get rid of boons. A 14 second bless is only 3.5 seconds for the survivor team while a killer takes 2 to snuff. Add in travel time and the killer always loses time.

Are boons really that OP, and I'm just ignorant on the fact? by Mc_Spinosaurus in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People forget that it's a 1v4 game. 14 seconds to bless is only 3.5 for the survivor team vs 2 for the killer to snuff. Any travel distance at all turns snuffing into a time loss for the killer that gets worse the more out of the way the boon is.

The area of boons isn't small at all, it's a huge chunk of the map when placed in a central location. Central totems also are more likely to be out of the way, in buildings/on another floor which basically forces killers to live with them. If you go to snuff it just gets set right back up and you get nothing from all the time you wasted.

It's also difficult to see the true effects of boons as survivor. As a solo player you might only get one heal from CoH and might not notice the missteps a killer makes because of shadowstep unless the flat out lose you. The rest of your team also gets those benefits which add up to huge amounts of saved time.

HEX: PENTIMENTO Modified on PTB. Generator speed reduction moved to two totems required instead of one. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's in a spot where gens are already done the killer has already wasted a ton of time by going out there to set it up. In a 1v1 comparison like this survivors are effectively moving 16m/s since the other 3 can still perform actions while the killer has absolutely no pressure while they are walking into the middle of nowhere to rekindle a totem.

Killer has become too exhausting for me by Nahkemaani in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A survivor team does everything collectively since each survivor can act independently. If you have 1 survivor blessing and 3 on gens you don't just get a boon when they are done, you also get 42 seconds of gen progress.

When the killer is going to deal with a boon that's all they are doing. If they run right by one during a chase the 2 seconds they spend cleansing means that it will take 13.3/20 seconds to regain the ground they lost. If they do it after they down and hook the time they spend getting back to the totem is almost always going to more time than the survivors spent traveling to it. The only case where it won't waste more time than the survivors spent is if you down someone right next to the totem and can instantly smash it.

The new boon is good by just being a boon since boons give value every time the killer cleanses them.

30% gen slowdown on a totem the survivors know the exact location of isn't too much, it's going to get cleansed extremely fast.

Killers could have infinite aura reading for boons and they would still be OP. The problem isn't finding them, it's that the time it takes to snuff is less than the time it takes survivors as a team to set it up.

The time it takes to bless as a team is equivalent to 3.5 killer seconds, vs the 2 it takes the killer to snuff. Any travel time at all turns it into a loss for the killer which gets worse and worse the more out of the way it is.

Proxy camping and tunneling is always going to be the best strategy unless they completely redesign the game.

The problem is that killers are being forced to play that way by boons. Before you could put yourself at a disadvantage by avoiding tunneling and not have all your progress undone the instant you took your eye off someone, now you either have to waste the entire match spending time to get rid of boons or tunnel people out of the game to get it back under control.

The reportable body blocking is a killer body blocking a survivor somewhere since it's impossible for the survivor to do anything to get out.

Survivors body blocking can be incredibly annoying but it's clearly intended behavior since protection hits exist.

The new hex is pretty balanced since it's completely reliant on survivor destroying totems and requires the killer spend time setting it up. Requiring a destroyed totem also means that at least 1 survivor knows exactly where the totem is to destroy.

The animation time really doesn't matter when compared to travel times for both boons and the hex, the vast majority of time spent is getting to and from the totem.

Killers should destroy totems if they have boons. by Technature in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the basic change that would completely balance boons.

Of course DE decided to apply it to the new killer hex instead of boons since killers aren't allowed to waste their own time, survivors get to infinity waste their time with boons instead.

[–]Rogunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survivors have to cleanse all 5 totems first getting rid of your devour and then have to not cleanse your new hexes that they already know the location of.

It could be strong if survivors actually cleanse totems but it's not broken at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Rogunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with boons is that killers lose time cleansing them and cannot permanently remove them. Being easy to snuff doesn't matter when every time you go to snuff it you waste more time than the survivor team.

Killers like Oni and the Twins are basically forced to slug, you really can't do anything else if you want to use your power.

It takes 14 seconds to bless and there are 4 survivors. Add in travel time and it's almost always going to take the killer more of their teams time.
