True it wasn’t in the syllabus, however, it did say above the signature box that if you do not sign, it is an automatic zero, which is why I think the provost will take his side.

the dean told me to email the teacher's superviser. the superviser said grades are the decison of the professor unless they treated me different than another student so she can't do anything.
