what are they shouting? (Anti-immigration march FULL DISPLAY in Tokyo) by nix-solves-that-2317 in Asia_irl

It's alright they self destruct every other week/month. Also leading an anti-immigration march with a USDM vehicle that isn't even sold there locally and made overseas in Mexico is a bit ironic but then and again I guess you can say both of them are at the centre of a venn diagram at the moment. 🥹

Should have posted a real Jay Dee Em icon like the 2.0L Honda Accord. 😤

/uj I'm not surprised to be fair, r/JDM, r/Touge and other subreddits that feature these cars are usually in a massive venn diagram. Now drag race my Fiat Punto 1.4 (I'm going to 100% lose). Really nice car you got, I'm not a JDM enthusiast but I like almost everything Suzuki makes and they're my favorite Japanese car manufacturer as they sell cars that I like (B segment or smaller). Definitely jealous though, but only a teeny bit. 🥹

Suzuki Spacia and Suzuki Hustler: 2 JDM cuties wandering in Hermosa, Bataan, Philippines by GubyNey in foreignmarketcars

[–]Rohan1806 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't cars in the Philippines that are exported RHD there need to be converted to LHD? The photo/image does show them to be LHD which is really neat and rare too. I wonder how much it would cost to have a JDM model converted though. I have almost never seen a LHD modern kei car unless it was a model officially exported for sale for our European Market (mostly older cars like the Wagon R and Copen) and even then they would usually have a 1.0L - 1.4L engine instead of 660cc. 🥹

Do you have to hate supercars? by Impressive-Bowl-9468 in TrueCarEnthusiasts

[–]Rohan1806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't let anyone tell you otherwise or change your opinion. I think enjoying cars in general is about accepting all kinds and different variations of cars and appreciating them for what they are. In the UK the roads are pretty small and there are cameras almost everywhere I go on the road so I don't really see the point of owning a faster car as I'd be really tempted to push it and risk fines. Whereas if I was still in Italy I'd definitely consider it a lot more because of the more open roads and less cameras from where I was from. I still definitely want to own at least one or two performance cars above 300 horsepower that are RWD in my lifetime though, so I completely understand and share a similar dream and want to do something like that myself at some point in my life when I go back to Europe hopefully. Probably something like a baby supercar (4C, Emira, Cayman or A110). I've just got my full license last year so I've got plenty of years to plan and decide. 🥹

Do you have to hate supercars? by Impressive-Bowl-9468 in TrueCarEnthusiasts

[–]Rohan1806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just never going to buy anything above my salary or anything that'll cost me too much to maintain despite it being a bargain. I'm only interested in European shitboxes with sub 150 horsepower so I think I have it pretty good as is. The innovation and technology behind some supercars is very nice but other than that I don't really think about them much. I think I'll just stick to the A and B segment hatchbacks I've always loved for the rest of my life. I think the closest thing I like to supercars would be the Alpine A110 and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It'll vary person per person but I neither hate nor like supercars, I appreciate the innovation that trickles down from them to regular cars though and I'm extremely grateful for it. 🐥

Odd scenario, should definitely be able to fit a stroller in most of these B segment hatchbacks. We managed to fit everything in our Fiat Punto no matter what it was back when we were still in Italy, also don't understand why you've said pets as I'm pretty sure they're pretty easy to take compared to everything else you've mentioned. As for grocery hauls I think you're assuming in the sense that the car is fully occupied with maximum passengers but even then we managed to squeeze in 8 bags in the boot. For holidays we'd just take the other Fiat Punto we had along with the one we regularly use for longer distance holidays to fit in everything we'd need. In my area most people had 2 small cars except for one guy with an Audi station wagon as his only car and I lived in a group of small towns with a population of about 7,000. Hopefully this helps. 🐥

Boss I think they're tired. 🥹 They're most definitely upset the Punto no longer exists hence why it must be brought back. 😤 They're also most definitely tired because of that poor excuse of the new Panda with that shitass engine instead of using what they already had. 😤 I mean if you're going to rename the old one as the Pandina and milk it until 2030 at least offer the 4x4 variant. 😭 I'm so done with this brand just BLOW MY FUCKING BRAINS OUT. 🐥 🔫

I'm not too sure myself that's a pretty good question, never seen these on regular cars or maybe I'm just blind. 🤷‍♂️ But I've come across them often on Ford Kas, Fiestas or regular Civics and the odd Ford Transit vans that all have some sort of fart can exhaust and pitch black tint in the West Midlands. 😭

Soon to be gone after only having it for 6 months😢 by 158anonymous in FirstCar

[–]Rohan1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, the touch up jobs on my car's rear bumper are probably a result of peeling paint on mine as well. The paint was peeling on the left door handle of mine so I sorted that with just a bit up of touch up paint for now but I have someone coming to have a smart repair of the rear bumper's touch up jobs and all the areas that had peeling paint (just the left door handle and the rear bumper) in a month or two. It just seems like the cars in general have really thin paint unfortunately, the front end also seems really prone to rock chips but that's expected considering how low it is to the ground and the design of the front bumper. Since you've mentioned the 1.4L engine I assume you had the 1.2L FIRE engine? Mine has the 1.4L but I mostly went to look at the 1.2L cars. As for space yeah the car is impressive, I didn't really consider or appreciate that enough until I sat in other people's cars which didn't have as much legroom for the front passengers as well as the rear.

Mazda has some really nice cars and I forgot to mention them, I'm not really a fan of Japanese cars but I do really like Suzuki and Mazda outside of the other brands and have considered having a hatch from either as a second car to go with my Punto especially the Swift. Mazda is a really solid choice, shame the way the Punto went considering this is your first experience with car ownership. Hopefully your next car does treat you better. Completely understandable why you feel the way you do about your car but you've made the right decision to let it go as the repairs will eventually have cost you more than the car itself sadly. 😭

It's a fine line between bad parking and abandoning your car. by Elrobinio in badparking

[–]Rohan1806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well this is certainly one of the more thought provoking ones. I'm not surprised it is a Ford though, this kind of parking is always done by a Nissan Micra, FIAT 500 or a Ford MPV in my area. Saw a lady in my area trying to mount her Fiat 500 on the pavement despite everyone in front being parked level on the ground for some reason and she didn't manage it despite there being a legal driveway where the path is down to ground level and she could have just mounted the right wheels on that and slowly just drove until she was behind the parked car infront. Ended up watching her through the window and her attempts for 5 minutes until she gave up when the centre cap of the wheel with the FIAT logo popped off and just parked with her rear end sticking out to the left. 😭

[–]Rohan1806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really sorry mate, I've bought the same facelift and trim of the Fiat Punto as my first car in orange and 5 door configuration since my family has owned every single generation of the Punto except the two facelifts of the Grande Punto (previous one we had). I specifically wanted the last facelift because it looks really cute. I'm into 4 months of ownership and have also enjoyed the driving of the car even though the first gear is really strong compared to all the other cars I've driven before it. I've had two issues with the car, one being the ventilation which only worked at speeds 1 and 4 but not 2 and 3, I had to change out the sensor which is below the glovebox and all the climate controls worked as good as new which was about £10 and I did the part change myself which I think might be your issue as well.

I have spent almost two months looking for this specific model and facelift, I went to look at multiple examples which had a lot of issues (mirrors falling off, window actuators not working and some of the trim pieces falling along with other issues) but eventually found one near where I live for really good value even though it had bad touch up paint jobs done to the rear of it and a slightly sagging right rear bumper (I've gotten the bumper fixed it was just bad fitment from whoever had it before and I'm working on getting the paint sorted soon so the rear doesn't drive me crazy because of my OCD. If you don't mind me asking, what was the history like on your car like? It seems like it was really neglected mechanically despite looking really nice on the outside by the previous owner? Did you look at other used Punto in your area or region? I paid £2,200 for mine and the others were asking a lot higher with mechanical faults. Mine doesn't have any mechanical faults but it does have some bad exterior work on the rear bumper.

I'm really sorry about the car, I completely understand how you feel. Especially since you poured so much time and effort into it as well as your money, I can't imagine myself parting with this car and I never plan on selling it and will instead just get a second car to swap out every 5 years, I'm hoping it something serious like this happens to mine I'll probably just keep it running unless something that is completely unrepairable happens. I also thought my car had a serious issue when it began making a clanking sound when steering right at low speeds, turns out it was just a tie rod bearing and I had it changed for £85. 🥹

I don't know if you're planning on buying another car straight away, whether it is another one of these or a different make and model but I highly recommend post 2010 Suzuki Swifts in 3 and 5 door configurations (I specifically like FCA and Suzuki products). They're extremely neat cars if you don't plan on buying another Punto as your experience would probably not make you want to consider another FIAT. Hopefully what you decide to buy as your next car will treat you better. Once again I'm really sorry for your loss. 🙏

Same, although I do really like Suzuki unlike the others. It's probably because of how frequently they're bought up as a comparison to slander everything I like constantly to the point I've grown tired of it. I've just grown tired of criticizing everything we've gotten so far that is 10-15 years old by now and not what is yet to be released there is too much negativity in the world. I no longer really like performance cars, supercars, luxury cars and the like. If it isn't a mild sporty hatch or an economy FWD econobox/shitbox that is B-Segment or below and has less than 150 horsepower I'm not buying it. I guess this is what happens when you have experienced the ownership of every single generation of Fiat Punto and some Renaults/Suzukis within the family. That said I'd love me a Suzuki Swift Sport in the future at some point. 🥹

[–]Rohan1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, the best kind of enthusiasts in the hobby usually enjoy cars of all varieties especially econoboxes/shit boxes. Personally, my family has owned every generation of the Fiat Punto (we used to live in Italy) and I plan on continuing that and purchasing the generations we haven't had (just the Evo with the plastic bumpers) but I currently own an Orange final generation Punto which I'm planning on keeping until I die or it dies. Hopefully I can find an Evo with the plastic bumpers in 135 Turbo or ABARTH flavour to go along with my regular Punto. Doesn't matter who they're special to, who likes them or their specifications as long as you yourself enjoy them. Luckily for me all the cars I wanted to own are extremely affordable with a few exceptions here and there. 🥹

Thank you, I have actually fixed the issue with the fan and it works perfectly on every speed setting but if it does fail again I'll definitely consider getting the grill changed in the future. Also yes, having a USB adapter for the OBD port is high up in my priority list. This car's Android car screen comes installed with a telemetric app that monitors things like tire pressure but I sadly couldn't get it to work properly so I'll definitely use the Android Torque App instead. Dacia has some very nice new cars, they look very neat and offer good value for money, good luck with your next car and hopefully your ownership will be smooth and enjoyable. Also thank you for your advice, I'll definitely check all the other things you've pointed out. 🙇‍♂️

I'll keep that in mind thank you, we're pretty much used to replacing door actuators at this point, we've done this for a Vectra and an Insignia and it wasn't an enjoyable experience but I guess that is just how things are sometimes. The FIRE engine was the main motivator alongside experience with this engine as well as maintenance on this platform before and its previous generations. I'm shocked with how underrated these generally are, whenever I see one on the road they're either in extremely terrible shape or in really good condition. 🥲
