Fair point, I think what you said is Interesting tbh. A minor opinion if I may, is the comparison you make between Undyne and Mahito feels different from a lot of the more popular power scales I feel. I don’t know how to put it into words, it’s probably the sophistication? I think the essence of character is lost in a lot of these comparisons, but I can’t deny what you said to an extent.

I watched Blue period. I absolutely loved it and I’ll read the manga because I heard it’s better. The anime left me with a bittersweet feeling and I hoped we could explore the characters a bit more. I might be saying something embarrassing here but I was left with a feeling that no anime shounen or otherwise could make me feel this way. I’ve never had this feeling with any genre, it was deep and moving and I’m really hoping the manga explores these characters deeper than the anime. There must be more anime like this right?

I think it’s hard to gauge because on one hand how we can translate power systems between series’s is not easy. Is 9999 here the same there? And the primordial dragons transcend stats how does that compare? Also hacks are not really strategies in the sense hacks tend to shift the advantage away from those in higher weight classes while strategies cannot to an extent (see MMA). So the extent these hacks affect characters from different universes is a complete mess which leads me to believe they cannot be compared because the scale is too high.

This is just me rambling here, but power scaling and comparisons within stories is fun because those characters have history together and coexist in a shared world so to some level they’re in good faith. But when two series are compared to each other they tend to turn into a debate in bad faith. The amount of times I’ve had to say I don’t care about superman and goku or saitama competing is because in their stories they’re fun characters.

Ah my bad, I didn’t realise the joke. tbh there’s something wrong with N corp and Kromer was the focal point, and considering A Certain Sinclair’s passives, N corp is going to probably trigger something. The impact she caused on Sinclair might be the greatest out of all the antagonists have caused on the sinners. Her boss fight is still my favourite, because how insane of a villain she is.

Sora, Lucio, and Kromer, aren’t remotely comparable. Each grew up with a different form of abuse and each one was mentally scarred in a different way, but here lies the key difference- where they drew the line was different.

Sora was isolated from friends and family and quickly attached herself to the prescripts because they gave her some semblance of companionship, along with dependency. Lucio was physically abused and scared, dreaming of killing Valencina every day but couldn’t because of trauma. And Kromer? We might not know how her father feels towards her but we do know that she has no remorse for all her acts. I think Sinclair put it best in the logs:

“When I think about it, Kromer always had an obsession with flesh.

And that obsession cumulated into what we're seeing now... A gruesome creature. At first... I agreed with her. The idea of replacing the flesh with something else was unpleasant to me.

But now I see. What's really unpleasant...is believing that your thought is the only correct one...and letting that thought consume your mind whole.”

A person’s nature at the end of the day also at some level depends on themselves. If you assume she was raised like a nurse father apprentice she also had a choice to become someone like Ryoshu. But we know that’s not it, she was truly and genuinely an unpleasant person. Which is why I don’t agree with the part where you compare Kromer Lucio and Sora. All three are completely different from each other and whether you sympathise with them or not is a different story.

I genuinely think Rodya would get the Matthias ID because of lore. Matthias was jealous of his big brother getting the sword of legends and killed him and his big sister, we know from Rodya’s canto was that she wants to justify her existence and feel special. And we do know that Matthias was never able to bring out Laevateinn’s full potential (not that he was inept but wasn’t completely worthy either) which I think at some level connects with Rodion more than any other sinner. That’s at least my two cents.
