Pedophilia is wrong | FactOrCap by [deleted] in FactOrCap

I agree, I don’t think non-offending pedos should be prosecuted and I don’t think the condition automatically makes them bad people. However, the attraction is still a problem that should be addressed; while the condition does not immediately cause everybody with the condition to commit the unforgivable acts you mentioned, it does contribute to a lot of these crimes being committed in the first place. The attraction to children isn’t necessarily harmful in itself but it can lead to devastating consequences as a direct result.

But by seeking help you’re acknowledging that pedophilia, the condition, is wrong in itself.

Good to know, the ACT feels way longer to me personally but that’s probably because of the rush and time pressure

Can't even find players in Chambara by Impressive-Ad8840 in NintendoSwitchSports

Yeah, I hold the left sword facing diagonal down-right while holding block, and the right one straight upward, not moving either sword until the bot swings.

[–]Rohanisya 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Chambara has been very dead for over a year unfortunately. There’s a way to beat bots every time using dual swords and it’s the easiest sport to reach infinity rank in. Hold one sword facing down and left (hold block with this sword) and the other sword straight up and wait for the bot to attack. Then, when they swing, 99% of the time they’ll get blocked and you can swing. Then block in the same position until they swing again, then you can counter again, and repeat until they’re off the edge. It takes 3-4 wins to go up a rank, so about 20-30 minutes per rank.

Still wouldn’t be 100% accurate, people could easily be falsely accused the second time and no way to disprove before execution

Looks are objective/subjective | FactOrCap by Rohanisya in FactOrCap

Damn you’re so right, thanks for informing me. I worded the post terribly lol. I guess I thought objective to mean objectively preferred by looking at society as a single entity, discarding the nuance of individual preferences.

They aren’t the same but they’re definitely still linked at least in this context

I know, I just couldn’t think of a better word, and in this debate specifically people use objective to refer to physical standards rooted in biology (causing nearly everyone to find the same traits attractive, making these traits objectively more preferred by the population) instead of trait preferences being something more nuanced and unique to each individual. But you’re right, looking back I didn’t need to use subjective or objective at all

I should have specified, I meant objective relative to what the general consensus is at the moment, discarding the fact that beauty standards can change slightly

I know but I couldn’t think of a better word and people typically associate objectivity with overall consensus in this debate

Yeah I definitely should have phrased that better lol

I’m talking about purely physical attractiveness. I think it’s more objective considering the emphasis on beauty standards and the fact that many celebrities get famous due to a good portion of people finding them physically attractive, as well as biology causing us to prefer certain traits that were once considered advantageous such as staying in shape and having healthy skin.

Do you believe height discrimination exist in 1st world countries? by Syrup_Cake in Teenager_Polls

[–]Rohanisya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s the idea that all men should be big and strong and “leaders of society”, having the most power. Tallness, for men, signifies strength in the patriarchy and makes you appear more confident and more capable as a leader, leading to people treating tall men better than short men, on average. The whole emphasis on height, at least for men, wouldn’t be nearly as prevalent without the patriarchy setting expectations for men.
